Day 4
- - - - -
Chance slept over last night since we were really getting into this investigation thing. I just didn't want it to be Ethan, if it was Ethan I feel like Grayson wouldn't take it. He loves his brother so much.
"Alright you ready?" Chance asked me.
"Yeah for sure" I fixed my hair putting it into a bun and followed behind him out the door getting into his car.
"What lie did you tell your parents to let you stay at my house?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Your funny I didn't lie" He lied. "...okay maybe I told them I was studying at a friends house, that was a guy-".
"Like your parents would let you stay at a girls house" I scoffed.
"I know I have no clue why they're so strict" He shrugged.
I've known Chance since we were kids, his parents always thought we dated. They've always wanted us to date. They showered me with compliments saying I was the perfect girl for Chance to marry. I found it funny while Chance couldn't handle it and stopped mentioning me and said we were no longer friends.
Well look at us now, investigating a murder, we couldn't be any closer.
We made it to the cafe and we got out the car sitting at a booth far away from everyone. He took out his laptop pulling up his notes. There he listed everything he thought about, almost like my piece of paper I kept in my room.
"We have to some how get Le'Anne to tell us what's going on" He said.
"But don't you think it might be relationship problems? Like it happens all the time with couples" I leaned back crossing my arms over my chest.
"No way, the way they were yelling at each other when I walked in on them it's something more than that"
Chance was into Criminal Minds so it wasn't a surprise he was so into this and making crazy assumptions.
"Do you know anything that could help us?" He leaned in closer eager to hear my statement.
I don't knows whether to tell him about Rachel and Ethan or not. I'm sure he doesn't know about it, "No, I got nothing".
He slouched down in his seat. I decided to keep it to myself, if Ethan did do this horrible thing I didn't want Chance to be getting into this. His parents would dis own him if they knew he was doing this.
"Maybe Rachel knows something, wasn't she with you at the party?" He straightened his posture.
"I already asked her and nothing" I lied.
I felt terrible lying to Chance but I had to, it was for his own good. I'm not sure if he knows how dangerous this is.
"Can I get you two anything?" A waitress came by our table causing Chance to immediately shut his laptop.
"Uh I'll take some dark coffee no sugar and?" Chance looked over to me.
"Iced coffee please and extra sugar" I gave the girl a warm smile.
She had dark blonde hair which was tied in a ponytail. I think she's a sophomore at our school but I can't really remember. She smiled back nodding and walked away to prepare our orders.
"How are we supposed to solve this thing if we have literally no ties as of now" He held his head in his hands rubbing his eyes.
"Look Chance I'll try and get something to help out, I'll tell you if anything happens" I got up grabbing my jacket.
"Where are you going?"
"I'll be right back just take my coffee to go or something" I said walking out the cafe and walking down the street.
I don't really know where I was headed but I had an idea, but was it gonna work is the question. While walking a bit with my jacket in my hand I found the person I was hoping to look for.
"Hey Stranger" He said smugly.
"Hey Ethan" I walked up to his car leaning against it.
"I was wondering if maybe you and your friend, Rachel would maybe like to hang out over the weekend to go to a beach house we have"
"I'm not sure"
"Oh c'mon it'll take your mind off a couple of things" He leaned over getting closer to me. "Grayson will be there".
I blushed a bit at the thought of him, "Alright I'll see you tomorrow then?"
"Yeah at 7am I'll pick you up so get packing, now" He smiled and drove off as I walked back onto the sidewalk out of the road.
I high fived myself as soon as his car was gone. I walked back to cafe hoping Chance didn't leave without me and also hoping that my coffee wasn't just water now.
"Where the hell were you?" Chance pulled up next to me unlocking the car door.
I jumped in smiling, "I'm going to the beach".
"I'm sorry what?"
"Ethan invited me to go to his beach house while I was walking around" I smiled.
He widened his eyes looking at me, "So you just randomly found him around here?".
"Grayson told me Ethan likes to just drive around here with his headphones plugged in listening to music, Ethan hates staying at home" I explained. "Now the plan is while I'm with Ethan at the beach house you need to find a way to get into the mansion".
"You want me to break into their house?"
"Look you want to find out the truth right?" He nodded. "Well then you'll do this while I'm going to hangout with them".
"Seems like I'm doing all the work" He rolled his eyes playfully.
"I'll try to see if I can find something too, but if Ethan did do it it's probably most likely in his room or somewhere in the mansion"
"Before we even get into this crazy plan, are you sure you wanna do this?" He raised his eyebrow a bit.
I bit my lip, I've shed to many tears for Thomas it's about time I actually take action. I nodded and he smiled a bit sealing the deal. I'm not sure if we knew what we were getting into but it was happening.
