reading has always been jinyoung's favourite pastime activity. not only that, it's also his way of relieving stress, so you shouldn't be surprised if you ever see him with a book or two, taking up the rest of the space in his bag. however, today was just not one of those days.

the days where reading would magically make all the other emotions disappear to thin air since he was too immersed in the very book he was reading?

yeah, not today.

it started like any other day. he was there, on his bench (it wasn't HIS, so to say, but he has sat there on that spot for a far longer amount than anyone else has and therefore is dubbed as 'park jinyoung's bench'), with a new novel in hand. although any other person wouldn't choose a book with such a childish cover, he was rather intrigued by the blurb at the back and decided to buy the book.

he's been completely invested in the book only recently, since he had just finished re-reading the harry potter series.

suddenly he heard the sound of footsteps, somewhere near him but also somewhere far away. he mentally shrugged it off, nothing could be more interesting than the current book, probably.

"oh, you're here," an unfamiliar voice stated in a bored tone. his ears perked up, he was sure he's the only other person in the vicinity, but it didn't sound like the person was speaking to him.

"of course i am, you brat," another girl replied, an annoyed tone clearly present. this time, the voice sounded far too familiar to not have him rummaging through his memories to try and match the voice to the person. he was taking too long, so he decided that taking a small, small peek up from his book would be okay.

it should be, right?

his eyes widened at the sight of the two standing right in front of each other, glares and sneers directed at each other being extremely visible.

to his right was his (ex) girlfriend, park sooyoung. with a fur coat, a black tank top and her black leather pants, she always stood on the spotlight, and if there wasn't any then she would make one just for her. her raven-coloured hair was long, reaching the lower part of her back, even almost her waist. even with that smile on her, he could tell she was sneering at the person's soul, judging them up and down for their appearances and behaviour. her rotten personality is covered by her looks, however sweet she may seem.

to his left was... iguchi sakura?

what was she doing here?

her casual clothes, with only a turquoise hoodie and a white skirt, still added to her beauty of simplicity but still making it shown off like it was gold. her hands hidden in her pockets indicated that she wanted nothing but to go home. her brown, almost hazel hair was tied into a high ponytail. her resting bitch face was present, a sudden scowl appearing on her face as she observed sooyoung more and more.

and while those two were busy looking like models, jinyoung -an actual model- felt like he looked like an actual potato sack.

"so, i'm sure you've already heard of the lovely stories spreading around the place, dear," sooyoung started, the sickeningly sweet tone used to prove her point even more. it irritated sakura, he could tell by the way her breath hitched slightly. "i was the one that started it, you know. i know how much you love it when people just boost your ego,"

"i could tell," sakura retorted. "they were amazing, by the way, i've never heard anything else that's as convincing. just a small question, what is your point?" she asked, the scowl on her face was replaced with a smirk. sooyoung immediately balled up her wrist, her nails slightly digging in her skin was somewhat her way to calm her down, retrieving her 'nice' persona.

"i'm aware that you're in the same group as jinyoung? i hear you two are getting close lately," sooyoung chirped. the smile on her face was nothing more than a facade, an act she put up. "maybe if you tried to stay away from him, brat princess, we wouldn't have to meet in such circumstances. i mean, look at you, you look like you just grabbed the nearest clothes! i bet they were all dirty, too." she mocked, earning a small mutter from her that she couldn't hear. it was for the best that she couldn't, though.

close? we never got close, she never responds to my texts at all, jinyoung thought to himself, confusion settling in on what the heck he did to get caught in the middle of this.

"well, sooyoung-SSI, i can wear even the simplest clothes and still look like i just got back from a photoshoot. and yet, you wear all the glamorous clothes, but they all turn to trash because they're worn by you," she mocked back, resting her hand on her hip. sooyoung growled in response, making sakura smirk a little. "if that's all you wanted to say, then please leave me be. i can definitely try, but there's no guarantee your beloved jinyoung won't go crawling to me while on his knees--"

her retort was cut off by sooyoung grabbing her by the collar and pulling her up, an angered expression indicated by her eyebrows furrowed. sakura, although fearing what would happen next, gave an innocent smile. it was tempting to punch sakura, he knew that because he understood how sooyoung reacted to things but he also understood some part of why sakura was behaving that way.

this is dangerous, jinyoung thought to himself. at this rate, i'm never going to finish the book... in fact, i'm too into these two to care about my book.

"what's wrong, sooyoung-ssi? cat got your tongue?" as she said that, sooyoung's face took on an incredulous expression. silently, she set her back down as she released sakura's collar. silence was never good, jinyoung noted as he feared that the worst might happen to sakura.

and the second worst did.

sooyoung slapped sakura as harshly as she could, an obvious red hand mark showing itself on sakura's left cheek. sooyoung scoffed, turning to have her back face sakura. "present yourself to me when you're done fucking around, iguchi." and with that, she walked away, leaving her (and unknowingly, jinyoung) alone.

softly, sakura felt the area where sooyoung slapped hurt, almost flinching upon contact due to how painful it was. she sighed, taking slow and deep breaths to prevent herself from crying. jinyoung unconsciously stood up from his bench, and slowly walked to where sakura was standing. slowly, because he didn't want to attract attention to him immediately.

but that plan failed as he accidentally stepped on a leaf, making a crunch sound as it was being pressed onto the ground by his foot.

sakura immediately looked at the source of sound, as definitely did not look pleased to see jinyoung trying to walk up to her like as if she was about to get kidnapped. jinyoung opened his mouth to try and explain his side of the situation, but sakura had already sent a glare his way which made him slowly close his mouth and gulp.

"leave."

somehow, jinyoung left the place while walking in a speed so fast that someone might mistake him for running back to the dorm. finally alone, sakura sighed out of relief.

being slapped by the enemy's ex and being found by the enemy is never fun.
