I woke up to the phone ringing and my mother shouting that it was for me. I reached down and picked up my phone.
"Hello?" I asked, my voice low and still sleepy.
"Hey." It was Kim. "I talked to Knoll and the whole thing was a misunderstanding. He has a cousin named Eliana. He was just with her. He wasn't cheating." I sighed. That's the oldest excuse in the book. I knew it would hurt more if I told her he was lying again but I just let it go. You can only protect someone so much.
"That's great!" I fake happy. "See, there was nothing to be worried about. Now go have fun in Paris with Knoll." I smirk to myself.
"Oh, I will." I could almost hear her wink through the phone. I chuckle and hang up.
I still had the phone in my hand and I didn't bother to change out of my clothes from yesterday last night. I knew I still had the gum wrapper in my pocket. It had only been one day though. Should I ask him if he wants to go get lunch or something? He was just so attractive and there was something so rare about him. I just can't explain it.
Mars Tyler was stuck in my head. I needed to talk to this kid again to know his likes and dislikes and what not.
I convinced myself that it was worth it. So, I reached in my pocket and started to dial his aunt's number.
"Hello?" The woman's voice sounded horse, as if she was ill.
"Hi. This is Florence Winters. I met Mars Tyler yesterday and he gave me this number incase I wanted to hang out with him." I explain. I hear the woman cover the speaker and scream for Mars to answer the phone.
"Hello?" He questioned really slow and deep. Dear Lord.
"Hi. It's Florence." I introduce myself. I hear him chuckle.
"Didn't we just meet yesterday? Someone must really want to get to know me." He jokes.
"Umm, maybe." I chuckle.
"So how are you?" He asks.
"I'm alright." There was a silence for a while. "I was actually calling to ask you if you wanted to go get some lunch at Pizza Place." I bite my lip as I wait for the response.
"Sure. Just let me take a shower and I'll come pick you up. The one with the orange shutters, right?" He remembered.
"Yeah, that's the one." I chuckle.
"Okay, it might be a while since I live so far away but it'll be worth it." He says before hanging up.
I couldn't breathe. He just said I was worth it. Woah.
I told my mom that I was going out with a boy and she almost was in shock that I even talked to someone who was the opposite sex without it being a relative. Most everyone knows that I just don't talk to boys and I never really have. They frighten me.
In the end, my mom gave me ten dollars and told me to be safe.
I hear a car horn. I look out my dinning room window and see a white jeep grand cherokee. In the drivers seat was Mars himself. My stomach dropped and the nerves kicked in. This was my first real date with a guy and I'm not sure how to act. I did know one thing, the guy was suppose to come to the door. My mom nodded and she knew what I was thinking.
I almost waited for five minutes before he came to my door.
I heard a knock and got up off the couch. I open it to see Mars with a frustrated look.
"I honked like a million times! Didn't you hear me?" He was so angry.
"I didn't actually." I lie. "Come on, let's go get some pizza." I push him out the door and I look back at my mom who was chuckling to herself.
