Edwin was almost as crushed as I was. We joined the other vampires in a sitting room we had closed off to ourselves. We were sitting in there, the curtains slightly drawn, letting the day slide past us. We were all thinking, mourning, something.
I saw the other 14 companions. A few girls had tattoos on their arms, some guys had proper cut hair, and some girls looked like normal teenage humans. Some of the guys had long pointy nails painted black. I didn’t pay too much mind to anything. Edwin looked to me.
“Sydia, do you still have the card?”
I looked up at Edwin, tired. “Yes.” I gave it to him when he came over. He dialed it.
Michael got up from lying down on a sofa. “What are you doing?”
“I’m going to lure him out, and capture him. He’ll be a source of information.”
Information? That sounded like a good idea. Maybe something good would happen. I gave a smile and looked at Michael. He looked at me.
“This doesn’t sound safe. He wants us to call, he’ll be foreseeing this.” Michael warned.
“He gave it to Sydia. Capture, or join. I don’t think we were supposed to know.”
“I think he would’ve known I could hear.”
“You said you were talking to the bartender. He probably didn’t think you were listening to them. Do be quiet now.” Edwin was silent for a few minutes. “Hello. This is Edwin.”
My vampire ears could just barely pick up East’s voice. A slight hello. Then Edwin worked into a conversation of meeting up at the back of the library to discuss something. East implied his surprise of how Edwin got a hold of the number. Michael looked uneasy when he heard. East agreed to meet and hung up. Edwin put the phone up and gave me back the number. I looked around, Michael sighed and walked over to me. He saw me in pain. He sat down on the 2 cushioned cloth couch and leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. He was thinking.
“We’re meeting, in 20 minutes.” Edwin started to talk to the others asking or assigning who to go and who to stay. He knelt down to me and asked me to go. I had to take a minute to respond. Dermot was going, I could see him talking to some of the others, maybe half. Michael became uneasy and tried to tell Edwin I shouldn’t go, but I didn’t see why not. Maybe I could help in detaining him. I went over to the door and waited for everyone who was coming, to come. Michael stood and came over to me.
“Sydia, I have to go with you.”
“Why?” I said in a daze.
“Because, I’m supposed to look after you.”
I smiled and placed my hand on his cheek. He just stared back at me. “Michael, I’m trying to be strong. And I’m trying to keep happiness given to me by certain moments, but, I really want to be a part of catching him, getting information, and maybe, save a lot of people. Maybe the whole world. My family.”
Michael nodded sadly. His eyes glazed. “Sydia. I-”His voice started to crack as his sadness started to take hold. He took a deep breath and held his strong face. He went back and sat in a small circle with the vampires who weren’t talking to Dermot. Edwin and Dermot’s small group with Michael followed into the hall soon after. We went down the elevator, into the lobby, and outside. It was raining. I opened the doors and we all walked through the crowds with their umbrella’s. There was so much noise. Michael caught up to me in the rain, our hair being beat down. Him squinting at me, me probably looking at him pathetically. He showed me a bundle of cloth. It was soft and pure white. He unraveled it and put it over me. My head popped out of a hole. He pulled my hair out.
