Who Knew?

Chapter One

EVELYN P.O.V

I woke up to the beautiful sounds of birds chirping outside of my bedroom window. Hmmm such a wonderful way to be awoken. I stared at my ceiling for a couple of minutes you know..just to savor the moment but sadly I had work to attend to so I slowly rolled my head to the side so that I was facing my alarm clock and saw that it read 6:30a.m. I did a double take and quickly jumped off my bed and almost slipped on my cover that was wrapped around my body.

"Oh no, oh no, oh no" I repeated about six times while simultaneously looking for an outfit to wear to work today. You're probably wondering why I am being so franctic at the moment and it's simply because I have to be at work for 7:30a.m and the traffic will be very crazy so I have to make an early move.

After picking out my outfit, I quickly jumped into the shower to take a fast shower. I dried myself and lotioned myself and put on my deodorants cause I mean every girl has to smell damn good! Am I right?! At this time it was 6:45 and I quickly got dressed and sprinted downstairs while putting my hair into a low pony tail. I ran into the kitchen and took up a granola bar because I didnt have time to eat right now.

I dashed outside and yelled, "Shit!" because I forgot my shoes, bag and keys and quickly ran back inside to get them and jumped back into my car and off to work I went.

I arrived at about 7:50a.m and as I was about to settle in, I saw my boss Mr. Hendrickson. He was a nice guy. He had a few streaks of  grey hair in his silky back hair. He was rather tall at about 6ft and handsome in his own way with his killer smile that can blind anyone. He wasn't a very strict boss but he knew when it was time to draw the line. The fact that the possibility of him seeing me arrive quite late made me kinda nervous mainly because I have been arriving late for the past couple of days.

"Goodmorning Miss James", he said politely as he walked passed my office probably heading towards his office.

I smiled at him and replied the same way saying "Good morning boss!" with a salute which made him chuckle. "How has your morning been so far?"

"Great. Thank You," he replied as he walked towards the elevator and stepped in. Just as the doors shut though, with a smirk he said "By the way, you need to be quicker next time if you do not want me to catch you arriving to work late".

I nervously chuckled and let out a breath as the doors closed. As I was looking through some files, I heard the clicking of heels against the marble floor along with what seemed to be a woman and man conversating. I glanced up and saw Terra talking quite intimately with Josh as she trailed her hand up and down his arm as he nodded with a smile to what she was saying.

I scowled. Terra is what you call hm let me see a "slut". I dont think there is any guy in this building who she hasn't slept with at least YET and considering the fact that Josh is new, she found new bait.

Feeling a bit mischievous, I got up and approached them since I was never really introduced to Josh.

"Terra" I said with a fake smile as she stopped in her tracks and turned around to face me along with Josh.

"What do you want?"she sneered.

"Oh nothing..just saw you talking to Josh and remembered that we never got the chance to introduce ourselves" I walked pass her and approached Josh extending my arm towards him which he shaked gently and pulled away with a gorgeous smile saying "Josh. Josh Heggings. It is an absolute pleasure to meet you .."

"Evelyn," I answered back quickly "Evelyn James. It is a pleasure to meet you as well." I was about to ask him a question when a certain someone cleared their throat behind us who was oh so happily forgotten at the moment.

Terra walked up to where we were and wrapped her arm around Josh's saying "Excuse me but we were actually gonna go out for lunch so if you would excu—-"

"Would you like to join us!? To lunch I mean" Josh asked.

I glanced at Terra and I knew this would be the perfect opportunity to annoy her but I had work to do so I politely declined saying, "Aw, thank you but I am gonna have to pass for now. Maybe another time?"

"Sure," he said with a smile and as they walked away, Terra glanced back and gave me a look and I sent her a wink and giggled when I saw her scowl before turning around.

Later that evening, at around 8p.m when I arrived at home, I was so exhausted and hungry so I made some noodles and took out a can of arizona and headed upstairs to watch some tv.

An hour later or so, I was in an over-sized shirt and cotton shorts lying down about to get ready to sleep. I hope Terra is not going to use Josh as one her "sex toys" because he seems like a good guy with good intentions and it will be very disappointing if Terra used him for her own sexual pleasures.

I mean, Josh is a handsome guy with well-groomed dark brown curly hair and at a relatively tall height that would make us girls go crazy. I mean who doesn't love tall guys? I think he has a left dimple which makes him look even more adorable. Terra and I are about the same age of being 22 and he looks like about 26 so I am not surprised of Terra due to the fact that she goes after older guys.

Getting even more tired with all these thoughts going through my head, I decided to call it night and see what tomorrow would bring.
