The morning sun lit up Paris, France as people made their way up and down the streets. It was a nice day out, despite the slight chill of the crisp autumn wind. A blue haired schoolgirl made her way to her high school with a bounce in her step and a pastel pink scarf around her neck.
Bridgette Cheng ran down the sidewalk and to her school, tripping on the curb a bit as she crossed the road. She jumped up, excited, but then started searching the floor frantically. She was still gripping the two movie tickets that she had in her hand tightly. She was going to use these tickets to confess to her crush, Felix Agreste, and ask him out to the movies. Bridgette heard the school bell ring and jumped, rushing off to her class.
When she entered the room, she was greeted by an impatient Ms Bustier.
"Bridgette..." Her teacher reprimanded.
Bridgette let out a nervous chuckle. "S-Sorry I'm late... again..."
Ms Bustier sighed. "It's fine. Just don't let it happen again."
Bridgette nodded quickly and headed to her seat next to her best friend, Alya Cesaire.
"Girl, you've gotta stop staring at the pictures of Felix in your room and wake up!" Alya snickered, shoulder bumping her friend.
"It's not my fault that he's so dreamy!" Bridgette justified, drooling a bit as his face popped up behind her eyes.
Alya laughed and nudged her side.
The rest of the school day passed by in a flash to Bridgette. It was suddenly the end of the day and Bridgette was waiting in front of the school behind a tree. She was practically jumping out of her shoes in anticipation. She saw Felix walk out of the front doors and walk down the stairs. Bridgette gave herself a quick pep talk before making her way towards Felix.
"H-Hi Felix," Bridgette said to him, blushing. She fidgeted with the tickets behind her back.
Felix groaned aloud, but Bridgette was too busy fidgeting to notice.
"S-So... I was wondering..." Bridgette started. She sucked in a deep breath.
"Felix, I really like you! I've liked you for a long time!" She exclaimed. She pulled the tickets out from behind her. "Please go with me to the movies tomorrow!"
"No," was Felix's immediate reply.
Bridgette took a step back, shocked from the sudden answer. She opened her mouth to speak but was cut off.
"I said no. Watching a movie is a waste of my time and my schedule is packed as it is. Even if I was free for the day, the thought of spending it with you wouldn't have ever crossed my mind," Felix said, his eyes cold and unforgiving.
"But F-Feli—" Bridgette tried.
He only grunted and shoved past her. "Leave me alone. You are nothing more than a bother."
"W-Wait, Felix!" Bridgette shouted as he walked to his waiting car. "Please, just reconsid—"
"Shut up!" Felix yelled as he turned back around.
Bridgette froze.
"You are too clingy! Stop following me, stop being near me, stop liking me, and stop doing anything related to me! Just leave me alone and get a life that doesn't have anything to do with me!" Felix growled. "Just stay away from me!"
He turned around and left Bridgette there, standing alone and in shock. She watched as he went into his car and closed the door, not looking back at all.
The once bright day turned gray and unforgiving. Thunder rumbled in the distance and a cold late October wind blew past her.
Bridgette stayed in her spot as the car drove away. A single tear dropped down her face. Then another. And another. She dropped to her knees and wept, her wails echoing in the empty space. Cold rain fell from the sky and in a matter of seconds, she was soaked. From the rain and tears.
Why does he hate me?
Bridgette shakily stood up and started walking in the rain. Her thoughts were about what Felix said and how he rejected her. Was she really like that?
Why was he like that?
She walked alone as the rain poured sheets all around her. No one was out on the streets, no one witnessed her cry, and no one comforted her. She walked past the closed bakery that she lived in without noticing.
Has he always thought that?
She kept walking, the cold chilling her to her bones, but she didn't care. Her clothes stuck to her body but she didn't notice. The cold wind made her shiver, but she didn't bother to warm herself. All she could do was wallow in her state of misery.
Why did I have to like him?
Tears will still running down her face and mixed with the rain water. Her eyes were red and puffy.
Why did I have to be so blinded by love?
Without realizing it, she had walked off of a sidewalk and into the open street. She stepped in puddles and they soaked her shoes. Her socks and flats were wet and every time that she took a step a squish noise could be heard.
Why am I in so much pain?
There was a sudden blinding light in the dark that Bridgette saw. There was a loud sound of a horn, but Bridgette barely heard it. She then felt a sudden pain. Was it from her heart or something else?
I just want to forget...
And then everything went black.
