Just to confuse you all i'm going to give a peek into the world of the boys. It's a good thing girls aren't around when the boys talk, 'twud be a mess. Enjoy!!! -Beatrice Butterfly
POV of boys in trees earlier:
While the girls braided hair and cleaned the kitchen, as unfortunately girls tend to do, the boys went out in a group to the back of the house. Aphie and Mckenna managed to keep their heads on long enough that James could leave Arie to maintain peace. Even if she just plain kept the arguements quieter, they were seemingly less harmful. Also it's pretty hard to be mad when Ed Sheeran is blaring through the house, which was now free of the nonappreciative boys.
Trampling the snow in a path to the lake, the boys decided to climb two neighboring trees with low branches. Without snowpants on, their jeans were soaked through by the snow. The feeling of being adventurous took away the urge to go back inside, even though they already lived in a wooded area at home.
“Ouch!” Matt cried out when he lost grip on the branch above him, scraping his already frozen palms. “I'm like one of those klutzy girls.” This caused an uproar from Jake, who was the only one close enough to hear the second mumbled comment.
“Speaking of klutzy girls,”Jake said while looking down at Aphrodite and Arie. Arie had just tripped for the third time on a hidden rock covered by ice. Her arms were up and her wrists bent downwards, giving her the look of a small dog, but more bowlegged. Her legs flailed behind her in a sad fashion for someone who supposedly ran for a sport. "So Jay, why do you suddenly like her? I guess she might be mildly cute, but....” he smirked and rolled his eyes.
“Back off,” James defended, more himself than Arie. “I don't know what changed all of a sudden, but you hafta stop saying stuff. Nothing will ever happen anyway.” James said with a truthful tone.
“If you say so then.” Jake ended the conversation as he sat in a high branch, looking out over the rest of the woodland.
Matt finally managed to properly adjust his sitting position near the top of the old tree, his legs straddling one of the few thick branches. "What are you doing to that poor branch, Matt? It won't make babies for you!"
The three boys were about to laugh when the noticed that Oliver was getting closer, obviously wanting to join. Jake silently cursed himself for saying something so vulgar with a younger kid around, although he knew that Oliver probably didn't need to be babied by having what he heard censored.
"Just because you guys fell silent doesn't mean I didn't hear what Jake said!" Oliver yelled upwards as he climbed the tree that James sat in by himself. This was one of those joyful moments when they realized they didn't have to be parental to the little brother they'd seen scootering in the neighborhood since birth. With two chaperones that spent most of their time out of the cabin hiking or antique shopping, it left the "trustworthy" kids with a complete lack for sociatal rules. Bring on that's-what-she-said jokes and too much boy-girl mingling.
"I'm not the only one who's been disgusted with James's new flirtiness, right?" Before the boys had a chance to threaten him with a wedgie to keep his mouth shut about it, they heard two screams. The boys ran either to the house or towards the lake in a frenzy. Jake came down to the water but lazily sat on a rock as he watched the others diving in.
Not quite what i expected to be writing, but i hope it worked! Next chapter is coming soon! Hopefully it'll be a little longer, more of the story is already written, but the edited chunks aren't all long
