Y/n POV

~2 months later~

For the past few weeks, Signe and I had almost been inseparable. She had quickly become one of my closest friends. We started texting each other soon after I had gotten her phone number.

I had just finished making some tea, when I heard a knock on my door. I opened the door and saw Signe standing there. I smiled.

"Hey, Woosh!" I said, using her nickname.

"Hi, (Y/n)! I brought movies!" She said while digging through her bag. She pulled out two or three movies. One of them was Thor: Ragnarok (cause that's an awesome movie) and the other one was Wonder.

"Oooh, you got the good ones!" I said. I moved to the side to let her into the house. I walked back into the kitchen.

"I just made tea, do you want some?" I called over my shoulder.

"That's a stupid question! Of course I want tea!" I heard her say from the living room. I smiled and poured us both a mug of tea. Of course, she had a special cup for at my house. A few weeks ago, we had went shopping together and she saw a mug that said "You're my favorite prick!💚" with a smiling cactus on it. She didn't have enough money to buy it because she had just spent her money on a new plant pot. So I, of course, bought it for her, on the condition that it was her special tea or coffee mug for at my house. She automatically agreed and happily grabbed the mug off of the shelf.

I brought the tea into the living room where Signe had already set out coasters. I set them down and dramatically fell backwards onto the couch. She placed one of the movies into the DVD player and came back to sit on the couch. While the previews for other movies were playing, we talked a bit.

"So, (Y/n), have you drawn anything interesting lately?" She asked. (If you don't draw, just go with it 😅)

"Uhh... Well, I'm working on something right now... But it's not finished..." I said kind of nervously. I just hope that she doesn't ask abou-

"What is it of?" She asked. I definitely could not tell her what it was. If she knew I was drawing a picture of her, she would freak out and probably think I was super creepy.

"Oh... Uh... It's nothing important..." I said, trying to conceal the blush creeping up my neck. She was about to say something else, but thankfully the movie turned on. I let out an inaudible sigh of relief.

~~~Small Timeskip~~~

By about halfway through the movie, Signe had scooted closer to me and laid her head on my shoulder. When I noticed, a warm and fuzzy feeling started in my stoma- Wait. This is not how best friends should feel. Ever. Oh god. Please don't let this be happening to me.

I think Signe noticed how I was feeling because she turned to look at me.

"(Y/n)? Are you alright? Your face is kinda red... You aren't getting sick, are you?" She asked, putting her hand on my forehead. I nervously shook my head.

"I'm fine, this room is just kinda warm." I lied. She stared at me for a few more seconds before a soft smile crossed her face.

"Alright. I was just making sure I wouldn't have to stay here overnight to take care of you." She said.

"Why would you have to stay here?" I asked.

"Because that's what good friends do. They take care of each other." She smiled again. I almost frowned. There's that word again. Friends. I immediately stopped my train of thought. This is not how you should be thinking, (Y/n)!! I mentally scolded myself. There was silence for a few minutes. Then I asked a question that had been resting at  the back of my mind recently.

"Uhh... Hey, Signe...?" I asked. She turned her attention away from the TV and looked at me.

"Yeah?" She asked. I hesitated for a moment.

"Um... When do you think I'm gonna meet your boyfriend?" I asked. I didn't like the sound of that question at all. It sounded so...rude..? Anyway, I instantly regretted asking because I felt her tense beside me. Oh no... She probably thinks I'm some fangirl... Or maybe she's gonna think I'm only friends with her to meet her boyfriend..

"Um... About that..." She trailed off. I stared at her. After a moment, she spoke again.

"Sean and I... We, uh, broke up..." She said quietly. I felt my heart jump a bit and I mentally smacked myself. This wasn't something to be happy about!

"Really?!" I asked. She nodded.

"Yeah... It was actually the day I met you. That's why I was crying.  Sean and I were talking and he told me that he just didn't feel anything toward me anymore. He said he was so upset about it because he had loved me so much... But he just didn't feel it." She said very quietly. I saw her starting to tear up, and wrapped my arms around her.

"I'm so sorry, Signe... I had no idea.." I said softly. I felt terrible for her...

"It's alright, (Y/n)... If that wouldn't have happened, I wouldn't have run off... And I wouldn't have met you.." she said and smiled at me. I swore that I had seen pink on her cheeks, but it was most definitely my eyes playing tricks on me. I smiled a small smile back at her and released her from the hug. She leaned back onto my shoulder and we both continued watching the movie.

~~Timeskip~~

It was now around 11:00pm. Signe hadn't left yet which was kind of odd because she normally leaves by 9:00pm. After we finished the movie, we had just switched to cable and watched whatever was on. After sitting for a while, I yawned. It was getting pretty late... It's a good thing I don't have work tomorrow.

"Uhh.. Signe...? It's getting kinda late.. Do you wanna stay over tonight?" I asked her. She looked at me and thought for a moment.

"Yeah... It is kind of late... I think I'll stay over." She said. I turned off the TV and stood up. I stretched until my back let out a satisfying pop. I smiled a bit and turned toward Signe.

"Alright, c'mon. I'll show you the guest room." I said. She stood up and followed me up the stairs. We got to the guest room and I opened the door for her.

"Here we are! If you need anything, my room is next door and the bathroom is across the hall." I smiled at her. She hugged me quickly.

"Thanks, (Y/n)! You're great." She said. She walked into the room and I walked into mine. I closed the door and jumped onto my bed. I let out a groan into my pillow. I started thinking about what had been going through my mind all day and sighed. Eventually, I became drowsy and my eyes fluttered shut.
