"Liv-vy!!!!!!"

I shot straight up out of bed. My hair was tangled and frizzy and I probably had huge bags under my eyes. I could feel sweat dripping off my back and for some reason my eyes were teary. I looked at my clock. It was 3:28 am.

I ripped the covers off and shuffled my way down the hall to my little sisters room.

"What?" I ask, trying not to sound annoyed.

"I had a bad dream." Ella whispered.

I crawled over to her. I brushed her hair back. "It's okay."

"Will you sleep in here tonight?" Her eyes were about to pour out tears.

"Of course." I smiled and got into bed with her. She curled up against me and quickly fell asleep. Sadly, I could not do the same.

I had to drag my feet out of Ella's room and down the stairs the next morning. My eyes burned because I had slept with my contacts in by accident. One of

my socks had fallen off and I had the worst bed head ever.

"Morning!" My mom said. "You look more tired than usual." She chuckled as she flipped a pancake.

"Ella wanted me to sleep with her again last night." It was weird that my mom was cooking breakfast. Then I remembered that it was the last day of school. She always cooked a big breakfast on the 1st and last days of school.

She groaned. "Can you cook some eggs?"

I nodded and got some eggs out of the fridge. As I started to scramble them, Gavin and Isaac came running down the stairs in their school uniforms. They were both 11, but Isaac was my step brother and Gavin was my real brother. Since they were 2 when my mom got married, they had always been best friends.

They started inhaling the pancakes my mom had already cooked.

"Guys! Save some for Jeremy and Cassidy!" I scolded.

They slowed down but my mom reassured them. "It's okay. Eat as much as you want, I can always make more." She smiled.

Just then Jeremy came downstairs in nothing but his boxers. He was rubbing his eyes. Jeremy is my real brother too, he's 17 and is a junior in high school.

"Jeremy, can you please go get dressed? No one wants to see you almost naked." My mom nags.

"Except Morgan." Isaac says under his breath. Gavin and him both laugh. Morgan was Jeremy's girlfriend of almost two years.

Jeremy scoffs and goes upstairs to change. Ella passed Jeremy on her way downstairs. She was ready for her last day of kindergarten. I always though she looked adorable in her little uniform. She helped herself to a pancake and some eggs.

"Cassidy!" Mom yells. "Come get breakfast before I have to take the boys to school!"

I walked over a plate of eggs to the table and began to eat my breakfast.

"Hold on! I'm still doing my hair!" Cassidy was my step sister. We rarely got along. She was 15 and was a sophomore. She came running down the stairs a few minutes later. She was wearing tan shorts with a light blue v-neck t-shirt tucked it so it was kinda hanging out. Technically it fit her schools dress code but she was pushing the limits. She had straight, waist length, blonde hair and her makeup was always perfect.

By the time she started to eat breakfast, Jeremy came back downstairs (fully dressed.) and ate as many pancakes as he could fit in his mouth.

"I gotta go to school." He said, chugging his orange juice to wash down the rest of his eggs. "Hurry up, Cassidy!" He yelled as he grabbed the keys to his jeep and slammed the front door.

"Wait!!" Cassidy yelled as she hopped across the living room trying to put on her vans and then she ran out of the door.

"Livvy, can you help me with my hair?" Ella held out a brush and a ponytail.

"Sure." I pulled her hair up into a high ponytail. "Let me see!"

She turned around, smiling.

"Beautiful!" I exclaimed.

My mom was finishing her breakfast. "Liv, can you clean this up while I take the rest of the kids to school?" She swallowed.

"Sure." I answered. And before I knew it, I was home alone. My mom had work at the grocery store while the kids were at school and my step-dad went to work early in the morning at the hospital.

I cleaned the whole kitchen and then got ready for the day myself. I got the keys to my car and then set off for the day.
