I awake to the sounds of yelling and sirens wailing. I try to open my eyes, but can't. I try again with success, but with a price. As I open my eyes, the light hits me causing me to groan in pain. I try to lift my head, but that hurts even more. This time I let out an even louder groan. Suddenly I feel a warm hand on the back of my head gently bringing my head back down while talking to me telling me that everything is going to be okay. I try to get a look at his face, but just as I manage to get a glimpse of the man, I fall back into a deep slumber from the drugs they are giving me from the IV.

~A Couple Of Days Later~

I wake to the sound of a machine beeping and the faint sound of footsteps and voices of people as they are walking by. I slowly open my eyes only to end up being blinded by the light. I have no clue where I am. Suddenly everything rushes back to me. The fight with my parents, the suicide attempt, the ambulance, and the man. I take in the room around me. The white walls, the machines, the IV that is in my arm. The usual hospital things. But my eyes suddenly land on the bouquet of roses that were left at the table next to my bed. I suddenly wonder who left them here from me, only to realize that there was no note left. I press the call button for the nurse. The nurse comes in surprised to see me awake. She checks my vitals and then she asks if I feel any pain. The moment she asks me that I feel a severe pain all around my neck. My neck felt both bruised and on fire. I feel absolutely miserable. She gives me some pain medication that immediately takes the pain away and I am once again at ease. My curiosity gets the best of me and I ask the nurse if she knows who had left the roses for me. She says it was the man who saved my life. I ask her what his name is, and she says that all she knows is that they call him Nate and that he is a paramedic in training. Nate. I swear I've heard that name before, but where? As soon as the nurse left my room my best friend Riley walks into the room.
"How are you Megan?", asks Riley.
I respond, "I've been better."
"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING MEGAN?!?!?!?! WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?!?!?! I WALKED INTO YOUR ROOM TO CHECK ON YOU BECAUSE YOU WEREN'T REPLYING TO MY CALLS AND TEXTS!!!!! I WALK IN AND SEE YOU HANGING FROM THE CEILING BARELY CONSCIOUS!!!! I THOUGHT I LOST YOU!!!!!"
"I... Um... I'm sorry".
"YOU'RE SORRY??? IS THAT ALL YOU CAN SAY?!?!?! YOU'RE SORRY??? YOU GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK!!!"
"I'm really sorry Riley. I'm really sorry".
"I'm sorry for yelling at you Megan. I just couldn't bear to lose my best friend".
It was at that moment that I finally realized that I do have a friend that cares about me. And that friend is my best friend Riley. Riley Jacobs.
At that moment Riley rushes to my bed and gives me a big hug. I feel shaking and realize that Riley is crying. The moment I realize that I start to cry too. We are just two really emotional girls right now hugging and crying and nobody around us even notices.
