2. Breakfast

(Y/N)'s House

Half an hour later, you made your way downstairs. No one else in your family was up yet as it was still really early. You had agreed a few days ago to go out for breakfast with Kara to celebrate the last day of high school.

Grabbing your keys off of the table by the door, you left the house, locking the door behind you. There sat on the drive way was your car, a (insert model).

Unlocking the car with the key fob, you got into the drivers seat. You barely had a chance to shut your door when the passenger door opened and Kara, now sporting jeans and a jumper, as well as glasses and hair tied in bun, slid into the seat next to you.
"How did I not see you come over?"
"Super speed bitch!" Kara replied as she shut the passenger door. "Anyway, you got yourself under control now?" She asked, gesturing downwards.
You looked over at her, unamused.

You backed out of the driveway and onto the road. Switching the car from reverse to first, you headed towards the end of the road.
"I can run faster than this thing can go," Kara said, leaning against the pane of glass in the passenger door window.
"Why don't you go ahead then? You can order breakfast and it should arrive by the time I get there."
"Because otherwise I wouldn't get to spend as much time with my best friend in the world."
You looked over at her, an eyebrow raised, questioning what she said.
"Fine! I'm too hungry to use my powers. Happy?"
"Ecstatic," you replied.

Bibbo's Diner
National City, California
June 10 2022 - 08.03 PST

It didn't take long before you arrived at Bibbo's, a diner in downtown National City, and not too far from your high school. It was a diner owned by two brothers, Billy and Bob, and surprisingly not related to the self-proclaimed biggest Superman fan in Metropolis.

After parking up, you and Kara entered the diner and get settled in a booth. Before long, a waitress walks over.
"What can I get you two kids today?" she asked.
"I'll have a latte and the cinnamon waffles," Kara replied.
"And I'll have a (insert drink) and the (insert breakfast food)," you said.

As the waitress walked away, Kara folded her arms on the table and dropped her head into them.
"What's wrong now?" you asked her, quite used to this sort of behaviour from her.
"I want pot stickers," came a muffled reply.
"You always want pot stickers. That's not what's bothering you. Spill."

Kara sat back upright.
"I just feel really awkward about what happens this morning. I shouldn't have come over before you were... not erect."
"Don't worry about it, you couldn't have known. Besides, I could see your nipples through your top in the corner of my eye."
"It was fucking cold outside this morning!" she replied defensively. "But I still feel really awkward about it. I mean, we're best friends, but that doesn't mean I should just show up at your window unannounced that early."

"Your drinks," the waitress said as she placed them down on the table, a confused look on her face. She must've heard the last bit.
"Thanks," you both said.
You picked up the glass/cup and took a sip of your (drink).

"Look, (Y/N), I love you like your family. I don't want this morning to make things weird between us. You're one of my only friends, and I don't want to lose you. You're one of the only people I can be this honest and open with. Truthfully, I don't know what I'd do without you."
Ouch. Friendzoned without making a move or anything. Is she secretly telepathic?

"It's only weird if we make it weird," you said. Great. Just be a basic ass bitch with a generic response why don't you, (Y/N)? "And don't worry, I'll always be your friend, no matter what happens." Great going. Keep digging yourself into that hole.

"Your food," the waitress said as she set two plates of food down on the table.
Thanking her, you started. Nothing more was said about the previous topic. Instead, conversation turned towards school and the past year.
