Lnl 4: Oh My My My

ZAC

"I'm better. Physically, I mean." I smirk at Amanda but nod in understanding as she sighs quietly.

"Well I guess that all we can hope for, right?" I reply, chuckling humourlessly at our empty word document.

"Okay. We, need a plan. Zac, what's your opinion on mates?"

"What?" I'm dazed by the question. What?

"What do you mean what? I'm the mateless one here."

Oh. Right. NOT.

"...well can you recall how it felt when you met him?" I ask, scratching the back of my neck awkwardly.

"...my god, please no. You don't like the idea of mates, do you?" She practically whines, burying her head in her arms as she lays on the desk.

Huh. If she only knew.

"Ok, what if, we take a different approach on this?"

Amanda sits up. "Talk."

"Ok. So let's say, we interviewed a couple of mated people, and dedicate one poem to each of them? We could even dump in Nightingale."

She tilts her head in thought, murmuring quietly to herself.

"Yeah... yeah! Sounds like a plan. How are you with songs?"

I shrug nonchalantly. "I'm whatever."

"Well, I guess we'll find out. Anyhoo, I know this couple that lives opposite me, we can check them out."

"Sure," I mutter as I begin to type in our proposal (yes this graded kassignment has high weightage).

"When shall we meet up?"

"Ok, I have a math test in 3 days to these 3 days isn't a good idea. What about the 7th?"

"Sure..." she drags the word out as she gets distracted with the blanks left to fill in to complete the proposal. At the end of the lesson, we submit it and head out for lunch separately.

"See you 7th, after school, at locker 622?" We planned to meet there so we could go to her home together.

"Yeap. See you then if we don't have anymore lit lessons together!" I nod. I'm just about to turn when I see Chloe approach Amanda.

"How dare you!" She spits, glaring at her.

"What do you mean? It's not like people don't know that about you!" Amanda replies lightheartedly.

"But this year, I want to be prom queen. I WILL get what I want. So don't go around talking smack about me, or I will destroy you."

"Chloe." I warn, shooting her the meanest glare I can muster.

"Oh... oh... oh I didn't... I... ugh!" She runs off, embarrassed.

...well that's your perk of being a popular guy for you.

"Uh... thanks." Amanda runs off in the same direction.

------------

620... 621... 622.

I fix my hair nervously (again), leaning against the locker.

"Took you long enough." Just as I lean against said locker, Amanda shuts locker 623 and locks it.

And I thought I was the early one.

Whale den.

"Soo, shall we go?"
