Lnl 7:
AMANDA
"How's the writing going?"
The door is pushed open and Zac casually strides in.
"Almost done. Your friends okay?"
"Yeah they're fine. Just get a little emotional. By the way, you should really start locking your doors."
"Psh, like you care."
"Hey, I do! What if you get kidnapped? Raped? A burglar? A..."
"Alright, alright, chill. I'll lock it." I shake my head, turning back to the manuscript.
"Let the music last, we 'gon do our dance?" Zac's eyes flit over the sheet of paper.
"Yeah, a bit stuck after that," I mutter.
"Um... bring the doubters on, they don't matter at all."
"That's nice," I murmur, writing it down.
"Cause this life's too long,"
"And this love's too strong"
"So baby know for sure, that I'll never let you go."
Perfect harmony.
The eye contact wrings me dry.
----------
"Alright, alright, alright! Everybody settle down! We have our results!" The hall quietens with anticipation. I hear murmurs around me and shake my head. It's pretty clear that Justin and Zac will be in. It's just who's the third one.
"Aaand your first nominated prince is... JUSTIN BLAKE EVERYBODY!!" The hall claps for the dirty blonde haired guy, as he steps on stage.
"Next is... ANDREW BARELY!!" Andrew?? I make a face. He's the male version of Chloe. Conceited dog.
"Lastly is, of course we knew he'd be nominated, ZAC EFRON EVERYBODY!!" I smile, clapping for once. He steps up as well, and they all bow.
"Now, of course, you boys will be choosing your princesses, so boys, please. State your choice of girl."
"Um..." the mic is passed to Andrew. "I'd like to pick Hannah Edwards." Hannah squeals and steps up. Hannah is one of those girls who wear booty shorts and treat school like a Hooter's and...
How much of lowlife must you be to like her??
Justin takes the mic. "I'd like to pick Maddie Bailey."
Wait huh.
A cute brunette, who has a hand over her mouth walks on stage. Justin winks at her and she looks shocked and charmed and bewildered, and well. That was a step up from Hannah.
"And um... um, I'll pick... um. Chloe."
Wait HUH.
I can tell Chloe's made up more than usual. She flutters her eyelashes at everyone and walks up, almost shaking her butt in our faces.
Zac. Why would he pick her? He knows what she did to me!
Why would he care?
And I would be mad at him, SO mad, but what can I say? "Oh you have bad life choices and should make your decisions entirely on how people treat me."
Wow that sounds really bad.
And what can I really do? We have a project to finish, and we're working very well on time. I can't afford to just let that go to waste. We are dismissed for break and I'm disorientated. And that's all the time Chloe needs to strut up to me.
"So, you tried to take away my position as Queen. But guess who won? Again? Hahahaha!! Ah, you never fail to amuse me, Montez, always failing and all that. Your life could be..."
"You better shut that dirty mouth of yours."
Yes, I said it, but someone else did too. Zac's here. My eyes widen a little.
"Shut that mouth of yours, or you will have an ice bucket on your head instead of a crown," he hisses so maliciously it gives chills.
"Why're you so protective of her? She's just a worthless sl..." Zac's hands are over her mouth in a nanosecond.
"I'm sorry, but I'm the one doing a project with him and I'm the one that he's gonna have to spend time with, even if he hates my guts. However, you, are different. So shut that filthy mouth of yours. Everyone know what kind of person you are. I don't even know why Zac chose you." I turn around.
And my books drop.
"OH MY GOSH!! Oh gosh I'm so sorry, really, god..."
A prom princess.
"Maddie?"
"Oh! Oh... hey."
"Congratulations," is all I can think of to mutter as we pick up my books.
"Yeah... it's..."
"Weird. Flattering."
"Both!" We both laugh.
"Well I'm Amanda," I introduce myself "and I'm not a princess." Maddie covers her mouth and giggles.
"Prom princess doesn't mean anything. It's about being a real princess."
"How inspirational of you," I muse, gathering the last of my books. "Thanks."
"Hey, no problem." Maddie tilts her head in the general direction of where Chloe was. "Need an ally to fight that?"
"I like the way you put it."
So basically that's that.
----------
ZAC
"Good choice, man."
"Maddie? Really??" I turn to a blushing Justin.
"No... it's just kinda... she's cute. And she's not... like... stereotypical."
An incredulous look forms on my face.
"Oh, so you go and pick the non stereotypical one and leave me with Chloe. Oh. I see how it goes." I shoot a glare at Justin who smirks.
"Want to know which non stereotypical girl is best for you?" He gives me a 'I know shit you don't' smile.
"Umm... who?" I lean away from his outstretched arm. He smirks and laughs, as if I were the dumbest kid in the world.
"Amanda."
