Dinner

We knocked and a few seconds later Jack's mom opened the door "Hey, welcome back" she said before hugging all of us. "Thank you we're glad we're back"my mom answered. "Come inside, Jack, Laura,Molly and David are in the living room." We all walked into the living room where we greeted each other and our parents talked for a while. When the dinner was ready I was about to sit down when I heard Jack say "Hey Giulia why don't you sit next to me, I bet our parents will only talk about boring things" I smiled and sat down next to him. "So how did you like Spain, Giulia? Your father said you missed Omaha a lot."his dad asked. "I liked Spain but I really missed my friends here" "Did you find some new friends there too?" his mom wanted to know. "I had two close friends there ,maybe they'll visit me here someday" We all talked about Europe until we finished eating. "Why don't you kids go upstairs"Katherine said. "Okay" "Actually mom can Laura and I go out ?"Molly asked. "Alright but don't be back to late"David answered."My room?" Jack asked. I nodded,he smiled and said "You know the way" I smiled back at him and went upstairs.

I walked into his room and sat down on his bed. "I can't believe it's been 5 years since we last saw each other." he said. "Me neither"
"Remember when I used to sneak out of my house and climbed into your room?" he said laughing. "I do, and then one day my dad found the ladder and wanted to know why it was there. But they never caught us"I said also laughing. We talked for at least two hours about our childhood and what we used to do and he gave me his phone number when he suddenly said "You know, I always had a crush on you when I was little" "Really,I didn't know that. I had a crush on you too."I laughed. "I actually wanted to ask you to be my girlfriend the day you told me you were moving,I even made a photo album for you and at the end I wrote "will you be my girlfriend?" "Oh my god that's so cute, I can't believe you would do something like that" i said honestly surprised. "What can I say I've always been perfect" "Yeah, sure" I said rolling my eyes at him. His phone started vibrating and said 'Incoming call Leigh'. "Hold on a second I have to get this" he said and walked out of the room. He came back after about two minutes "Sorry" "No problem, who called ?" I asked and instantly regretted it. I must've sounded like a control freak or a extremely jealous girlfriend. He didn't seem to mind and said "That was Leigh,I don't know if you remember her, she's a year older. We've been on a few dates and she wanted to know if we could talk. I think she'll tell me,that she doesn't like me that way." "Yeah, I remember her. Do you like her ?" "I mean she's a nice girl and I like her as friends but I don't feel like we have any chemistry" That somehow made me happy,although I knew it was dumb. "Are you seeing someone ?" "No, I'm not" I responded and could see a slight smile on his face.

"Giulia" I heard my mom say "We're leaving" He stood up and opened the door for me, then we both got downstairs. "Thanks for the dinner Katherine, maybe you two and your kids can come over next week" I heard my mom say. "Sure we'd love to come" "Oh,there they are" my dad said. I smiled at them and said "Thank you for everything" "Oh no problem dear,I see you and jack bonded again really quickly" "I guess we did" Jack said smiling at me and nervously scratching his neck. I smiled back at him and said "I'll text you later?" He nodded and my parents and I got out of the door.

"It's nice to seeing you and jack getting along like we were never gone" my mom said. "I guess some things never change" I answered smiling to myself. "I hope you don't get along to well" my dad said giving me a knowing look.
He's always been way to overprotective when it came to boys and it was really annoying. "Oh come on, she's 16, I don't want to know what you did when you were her age." My dads phone started ringing and he went to another room. I guessed it was a business call. After he came back he said "I will have to go to New York for a few weeks" "What? We just came here" my mom said clearly annoyed. "I can't do anything about it, it wasn't my decision" "You're always working, why can't somebody else go there?"my mom said, now speaking louder. I knew this would end up in an argument and so I just said "goodnight" and went up to my room. Fighting, that's all they've been doing for the last year. I hoped it would get better when we're home again but I guess that's not the case. I grabbed my headphones and put on music so I didn't had to hear them. After a while I decided to text Jack.

To Jack: Hey
Jack: Hey wyd?
To jack: Nothing wby?
Jack: I'm in the living room with my parents and my mom won't shut up about how beautiful you are ...
To Jack: Aww that's so sweet of her . My dad said he hoped we won't 'get along too well'
Jack: Can't promise anything ;)
I couldn't help but smile when I read his text. Could he see us becoming more than friends?Or did he only like me as friends, like Leigh ?
I wrote a quick goodnight and decided to go to sleep.
