TOMMY'S POV:
"Okay... thanks for letting me know."
I hang up the phone and fall back on the couch, sighing exasperatedly. I just got off the phone with one of the dudes at the police station. Apparently, Bryne escaped. I don't know how she did it, but she did. The guy was letting me know because he thought I was 'Gameknight' (maybe Bryne told him?) and now I'm in danger (because that doesn't happen to me like every other week).
I decide to text Isabella. She'll need to know, too...
Hey, wait a second! Where's her phone number? I know I was able to text her before... but I don't see it on here! All I see is Bryne's number. Everyone else's numbers I deleted after they died. But I know it was there yesterday! What the heck?
Okay, might as well go over to her house, I think. I do know where it is.
I grab my coat and run out of the house towards Isabella's. It's not that far away, only about a five-minute walk, which is good since it's raining- still.
When I get there, I knock on the door and Isabella's mom answers.
"Hi," I say. "My name's Tommy... is Isabella here?"
Mrs. Gonzalez looks surprised. "No, actually- oh dear, it's pouring, come inside and get out of the rain!"
She pulls me inside and shuts the door.
"Actually, Tommy, we haven't seen Isabella at all today," Mrs. Gonzalez says. "She disappeared last night. We've looked all over the neighborhood, but we can't find her..."
"MOM!" yells one of Isabella's sisters. "YOU GOTTA SEE THIS!"
"Come on," Isabella's mom says to me, waving her hand.
I follow Mrs. Gonzalez into the basement of her house.
"Look at this!" her sister says, pointing to something on the ground.
I lean in closer and realize it.
It's that knife again!
Why does it keep randomly popping up, especially when something happens to one of my friends or family? So far, we've found it when Mom and Jenny were killed, and now when Isabella is missing? Also, why does it look so similar to Herobrine's old knife? It seems like he's causing all this, but I know he can't be because he's dead...
"It was lying here before Isabella went missing," the sister says. "There's no sign that whoever it belongs to used it, so I think someone just dropped it, but it might lead us to our conclusion."
"Good thinking," Mrs. Gonzalez says. "Tommy... do you know anything about any of this?"
Of course. She HAS to ask. What do I say...?
"No," I lie. "I have no idea."
Mrs. Gonzalez looks disappointed. "Well... I guess you can go home, then," she sighs.
"Sorry," I say.
"It's okay," she says. "I didn't really expect you to know anything about it."
I nod sorrowfully and run out the door. Of course, it starts pouring down rain the second I get outside. Talk about bad luck.
I sprint into my house and lock the door behind me. I need something to get this off my mind. I need an actual friend. Bryne... I can't tell if she's my friend or not anymore. I don't think she is, considering she wants to kill me. And Isabella's missing. Everyone else I know is dead.
Wait... not everyone!
I run into my basement. I have an idea. I run to my computer and turn on Minecraft. Making sure it's all hooked up, I walk over to the odd-looking device in the corner of the room. I press the button to activate it... and I disappear in a burst of white light.
I spawn in my usual spot- an area between a grassy plain and a birch forest, in front of a hill. It's been so long since I've been here... almost a month; that's a record for me, isn't it?
Oh, and if you're wondering where I am, I'll tell you now.
I am in Minecraft.
I start to make my way to the hill in front of me. Over that hill is my friend Crafter's village. Crafter is an NPC friend of mine. Oh, I can't wait to see all my NPC friends- Hunter, Stitcher, Digger, Herder... all of them.
Who I'm NOT looking forward to seeing- the monster kings (and queen). Feyd, Xa-Tul, Charybdis, and Shaivalak- the commanders of the Endermen, zombies, blazes, and spiders in Minecraft- were helping Herobrine in his war to destroy every NPC on the server.
Oh, and me. He REALLY hated me.
As soon as I make it across the hill, my heart lifts as I see the village, just the way it was when I left it. It makes me so happy, just seeing it. I sprint towards it. Guards at the gate wave to me happily, and I do too. I'm so happy just to be back here.
Then, I see her. Her familiar red hair, so beautifully shiny it glints in the sunlight. I run toward her.
"Hunter! Hey, Hunter!"
She looks up.
"Gameknight999!" she says, clobbering me in a hug. "Oh my gosh, I'm so happy to see you!"
"I am, too," I say. "How's life?"
"Awesome," Hunter says. "None of the monster kings have launched an attack since you left Minecraft. I think that they don't want to do anything without their Maker."
"Heh, they were always complete idiots," I say. "How's-"
Then, Hunter's little sister, Stitcher, comes up behind her.
"Hey, Gameknight! 'Sup?" she says, but then she turns to Hunter. "And Hunter, do you know where Bella's iron boots went?"
"Bella? Who's Bella?"
"Bella_8293?" Stitcher asks. "She's a User-that-is-not-a-User, just like you."
WHAT?!
"You wanna meet her?" she asks. "Come on."
I follow Stitcher to a house. Inside, there is another person like me, but I know her well...
"APHMAU?!" I scream. "WHAT THE-"
"I'm not Aphmau!" the girl says. "I have her skin... wait, Tommy?"
"ISABELLA?!" I scream. "WHAT THE-"
"It's a very long story," she says.
