Gabriel's POV
I looked in the mirror to make sure I looked fine. I was wearing something simple, just a navy blue suit. My blind date and I were supposed to meet at this nice Mexican restaurant downtown. She might not be that bad if she likes Mexican food.
I love a woman who knows the taste of her mouth, I sighed, I couldn't believe I let Matteo talk me into this. Just one more date and I would be free from his blind date setups. I knew it wouldn't work out, they never do. Well, it'll be nice spending a Friday at a nice place with someone eating good food, then sleeping or something.
"Gabriel, you're going to be late!" I heard Matteo yell probably from the down the stairs. I sighed, let's do this. I grabbed my phone, my wallet, and my keys. I walked down the stairs to see my brother and Veronica standing down there smiling. I rolled my eyes at my brother, he was treating me like I was his date to prom or something.
"You look handsome," Veronica complimented. I laughed, what did she know about people looking handsome. I lifted her up and she hugged me.
"Thank you," I said regardless. "Did your dad tell you to say that?" I whispered in her ear. She nodded her head and started laughing. Matteo looked at us not knowing what was so funny. I put her down and kissed her cheeks, "excuse me, sweetheart, I'm about to waste my afternoon," I told her. She started laughing again. I told them both goodbye and made my way out of the house.
After the twenty minutes drive, I reached the restaurant. I got out of my car and immediately regretted wearing a suit, it was hot. I stood in front of the restaurant where I said I would be. "Hi, you must be Gabriel," a young woman walked up to me saying. She must've been my so-called date. She was beautiful, she had long dark hair that resembled hair of an Indian which was good.
I hate blonde girls with blue eyes, she had light brown eyes. She wore a small black dress that showed her curves with some heels. She scratched her throat making me bring back my attention to her eyes. "I'm Camila," she said. I could hear a hint of an accent from her voice, maybe I would like this girl.
"I'm Gabriel," I said. I handed her my hand to shake. She smiled and shook my hand.
"I hope you enjoy spicy food," she said pointing at the restaurant. I nodded my head, "okay then," she said. We entered the restaurant and a waitress directed us to our seat. The waitress gave left us so we can decide on our order. "Tell me about yourself," she said.
"Oh," I said not knowing how to answer her request. "Feel like I'm on a job interview," I told her. She chuckled and shook her head. "Listen," I started, "I don't like talking about myself, so why don't you just tell me about yourself," I switch the question to her. "How do you know my brother?"
"Oh, your brother," she said, "he's dating one of my closest friends, Dominique," she said making sure I knew what she wanted. I nodded my head. Was Dominique really a part of setting me up with a random girl? I couldn't believe her, maybe she doesn't even know how I feel about her. She doesn't know that she's the only woman that I'll ever love. She was just setting her friend up for heartbreak, she seemed like a nice girl and I have no doubt that she would be a wonderful spouse for someone, just not me. "Hey, you okay?" She asked.
"Yeah, sorry," I apologized, "what do you do for a living?" I asked her.
"Marketing," she replied. Oh, she worked at the same place as Dominique, "although I doubt that answers your question. I'm the gal who makes sure a product or company has their dumb commercial so people can buy their product," she was funny, how sweet. The waitress came back and we both ordered our food, "what about you?" She asked.
"Well I-I," I couldn't answer her question. I killed people for a living, well I enjoyed killing people but that wasn't the only thing I did. My family actually owns a pharmaceutical company, we sell legal drugs and everything. Except, under all that, we sell things that aren't quite legal. "I'm like a representative for a pharmaceutical company," she nodded her head, "boring stuff, I'm sure you would prefer to talk about something else," I tried to get her off my case.
"No," she retorted, "I actually am into that kind of boring stuff. Wanted to own a pharmacy as a kid, do you know the drugs you can get there?" She asked, "I could get high without people asking questions."
"You enjoy getting high?" I asked her.
"Probably not what you should mention to a stranger, but yes," she said. I smiled, I never met someone who enjoyed getting high before. "Just takes my troubles away for some time, you know?" She asked. I nodded my head. "And I should probably mention that you're probably wasting your time," she added. Our foods came back and she smiled taking a bite of her taco.
"Wasting my time how?" I asked her just to clarify.
"This date, I'm really busy with work plus no guy can actually handle me," I chuckled. "I just gave up on the idea of a relationship long ago, I don't have time to waste," I enjoyed her honesty because I was felling the same way. The idea of a relationship sounded so foreign to me, something I've given up on a long time ago. Many people say that they're in a relationship with their soul mate, their one and only. But what happens when the person you believe is your soul mate is not available, on top of that, I doubt she even knew I existed.
"I completely understand, I guess we're on the same page, relationships are overrated."
"Right?" She asked, "It's too much work and what's with..."
