The Queen's Promise

Shiro's POV:

   It's always so dark in these caves, which is why I don't let Keith out of my sight. I don't know what kind of sick and twisted demons lurk around in here.

   Kolivan assured me that there is nothing to fear, that we are safe inside the nests walls. I don't trust him, nothing he says can change my mind.

   Keith hates being couped up for so long in the dark without at least the room to stretch his wings. Can't say I blame him, I too have a fear of cramped places.

   I begged Kolivan to let us out, to see the moon for the first time in month's. With time, he said yes.

   The night's cold air lifts us farther and farther away from the nest. The smile on Keith's face is worthwhile.

   " Shiro look above us!  The moon is full and shining brighter then ever!" Keith shouts.

   I look up, the moon is full. How did I not notice it before. It is unsafe for us out here when the moon is high, all can see us flying below the clouds.

  When the humans see two Night Fury, all alone, they're prone to lunch their nets.

   I notice something, " Look! Up ahead, the rock pillars of  Daibazaal Island!" I shout back at Keith.

He laughed, " What about them? Are you afraid that you'll hit one?"

" Hitting one is my last concern."

   " You worry to much, this is good for us. Hey! I have an idea, lets have a race. You know, for your sake." Keith smiled back.

"  For my sake?  Last time I checked, I wasn't the one on the ground with a broken wing a few months back."

" That was one time!" Keith screeched.

   " For the record, I had Antok on the run. The only reason I lost was because he -"

   " Antok thought of a way out and took the chance! He literally back flipped over you, mid flight, and body slammed you to the ground!" I objected.

  " Yeah!  Which wasn't in any way fair! I'm his packmate, there is a big difference between practicing and real life dangers!"

   " I think your just being salty."

   " I couldn't fly for months! Kolivan put me on cleaning duty! I've seen things Shiro, nasty things." Keith pouted.

I'm laughing so hard I couldn't fly straight. I'm greatful for being on guard duty all this time. I don't think I would have any smell senses left after a spin on cleaning duty.

   " Kolivan put you in the Nadder nest. At least they have the decncey to be relatively clean." I rolled my eyes.

  "Relatively clean!  I almost stabbed my eye out multiple times on those spines of theirs!  I'm traumatized!" Keith cried.

   " Maybe if you didn't work so fast you wouldn't be so 'traumatized'."

  Keith looked at me bewildered.    " I do not wish to be in there any longer then need be.  Besides, I didn't even work that fast."
