Tales of Bobby Sue

Chapter 1

Flowers

Pink..

Red..

As I stare at the flowers gathered around my father's coffin, all I could think about is..

"Why now?"

My dad always say that everything happens for a reason.

But what reason is this? Why now?

Why now, when I was at the verge of being a young lady.. Why a week after my birthday?

I know, pathetic.

Everybody dies everyday. But this, this one's not easy..

I wasn't even able to say to him that I loved him..

I was afraid of saying goodbye. I hate goodbyes.

I can't accept the mere fact that my father was dead..

My father's dead..

"Bobby, help me give out these foods for the guests will you?" Mom gave me a soft smile before heading out to distribute the drinks.

I watched her mingling with some guests at the funeral..

I wonder, how could she be this strong? I mean, the man that she first loved, the man that made her strong when she was weak, was gone.

Gone, with their promises of forever...

Shaking my head, I gently lifted the tray filled with drinks to accompany it with the foods mom gave out a while ago.

As I was handing them out, I stumbled accross a woman, wearing a black dress with white linings, long curly locks. It was a familiar face..

"Hey sweetie.."

She gave me a big, warm hug. It was Aunt Jessie.

Aunt Jessie is my dad's youngest sister.

See? It runs in the family where girls will be named after a boys' name.

I am Bobby Sue Parker, the only daughter of my mom and dad.

I am eighteen years of age and simply look like any other eighteen year old girls out there.

I am not blonde, if you may think about it. I have a black, curly, medium length hair. Brown eyes, freckles on my face.I stand at 5 foot 5, and I am of the average size.

I am a photographer at our school.

Scratch that, I am a professional photographer.

Ugh, who am I kidding.

I am a photographer at our school journal, and also a part time photographer for weddings and other events.

I do earn some money just by giving them great shots. Let's say 20-50 shots is okay?

So in that case, I don't have to ask money from my mom to buy myself new camera straps, camera bags, camera related things, new films..

Yup, you heard it right. Camera Films.

Yes I am into the techie and modern world, I mean, I have 2 DSLR's, but I am most likely to use camera with films.

Since they give out something that any other digital cameras can't give.

Like the streaks of light naturally playing with the vivid images, or something like that.

"How are you today sweetie?" Aunt Jessie asked me while she sits down at one of the pews.

"I think I'm fine, thanks." I shyly said while clearing out my throat

It was the first few words I ever spoke after a few days. I think?

"I know this is hard for you, but baby it's hard for me too... He was my favorite brother.." She said as she stared at my dad's coffin.

Aunt Jessie was like my bestfriend. She knows what's going on in my life, whatever it may be. She was like, my lost sister, that happened to be my father's sister. Whatever.

Mom approached her and gave her a hug.

That's when mom broke down in tears.

"Sweetie, excuse us for a second okay?" Aunt Jessie told me.

I nodded.

So I watched Aunt Jessie and my mom go outside to talk about something..

And here I am, sitting down, looking at everyone, who I'm pretty sure, are not my relatives.

Except grandma who was sleeping.

After a few people who already went home, mom and Aunt Jessie finally entered the room.

That's funny, i said to myself.

It's like the first time in forever since mom smiled at me like that.

Weird

"Hey, i-is everything okay?" I asked them.

"Yes Bobby, everything's fine. Aunt Jessie here has a proposition for you.."

Eeeep! New Book!

Sorry guys I stopped writing "A Long Way To Run". I lost my journal where I wrote practically every piece of idea. Now I don't know how things will flow if ever I continue it.

But here's a story I like! it's actually based on my own experience (well, some of it only)

I love you guys! Xx
