Ok guys, we're going to try this out. I'm not a huge fan of high school settings, but here we go. Enjoy~
She was a nobody. Not pretty, not ugly. Not flirtatious, not unapproachable. Artistic, but not an artist. She was a loner, but she wasn't lonely. She wasn't a girly girl or a tomboy. Boys didn't notice her, but then again, no one did. Everyone is good at something, though. And so she was a writer. An author. But when her books got published, she used a fake name. A lot of people read her book - it was getting very popular, but no one ever suspected she wrote it. So everyday she walked the halls, from honors class to honors class, getting straight A's, and writing in her spare time. She was the kind of girl who noticed things. She knew what was happening, who would break up, who someone really was inside. She just saw these things. That's what happens when you aren't biased - you can see clearly.
But there was a boy. Oh, yeah. Gajeel was his name. He was a popular. He was a smart popular. He was an athletic popular, he also had a girlfriend; she was also a popular. A cheerleader, but not very smart - she was a party girl. Her worst problems were her looks, even though she was gorgeous. She didn't care about her grades, and it reflected in them. Gajeel was only dating her because of peer pressure, because they were 'cute' together. He didn't see it. Neither did Levy.
Levy was the writer. She was the nobody. Gajeel was the popular. He was the somebody.
So it was social studies. Groups of 2 were being handed out by the teacher. Lisanna wanted Gajeel, so did Levy. Gajeel thought nothing of Levy but didn't want Lisanna as his partner because he knew they wouldn't get anything done. Papers were being passed out, and one partner got a paper with the other person's name on it. They would find their partner, get together, and start on their project. The rest of the work would be done outside of school.
Gajeel was expecting to get the paper because being popular and all, that's how it usually worked. But the teacher breezed right by him. He looked around nervously for anyone who was walking his way or looking at him. His eyes skipped right over Levy. He never never thought he would ever get her as a partner. That wasn't how his life worked.
He was a popular. He would either be paired with another popular or a nerd. He would either get a good grade or a bad one. The stereotypes were mostly true. It had been a while, and no one had come up to him yet. He was starting to get nervous. He looked for Lisanna, who was sitting on the desk of one of his football friends. They weren't going to get a good grade. In fact, everyone seemed to have a partner. Gajeel awkwardly stood up from his desk to get a better look around. He swallowed.
There. A girl with glasses in the back. Staring at her paper in disbelief. It had to be. But she was an unknown. A background character. This was terrible. She wouldn't fit into a stereotype. This wouldn't do. The girl looked up at him. They met gazes. She wouldn't look away, which he thought was weird. Unknown's were usually shy. But this girl met his gaze head-on. That's what was peculiar about her. That's what made him afraid to approach her. He saw her gulp, and stand up clenching the paper in her hand. She stared at her shoes and made her way over to him through the crowd of other kids. In the meantime, he tried to busy himself pulling another desk next to his for her, since they were partners, after all. She finally arrived at his side, and he didn't even notice her.
"Hi." She whispered.
He jumped. "Oh. Hey." Awkwardly, he stuck out his hand. "Gajeel." She was short. Like, really short.
She took his hand with a surprisingly firm grip, "Levy." Her blue hair caught in her eye and she blew it away.
Levy. Now that's a weird name. He thought. Pretty, but unusual.
