An Apple a Day is pointless

Be ready for some feels, my friends. Maybe not yet... idk it's been a long day... Enjoy!~

As they continued their walk in no general direction, Levy started coughing. It went on for a while. A long time, really, and Gajeel asked if she was okay multiple times. When she finally stopped, they had sat down on a bench, and he was holding her coffee. Her eyes were teary when she took a ragged breath. "I'm okay." She said in a voice that sounded like she'd been crying.

He looked at her, concerned. "Are you sure? There's a doctor's office right around the corner...."

"No, I'm good. Thanks." She ignored the blood on her sleeve that wasn't there before. She would go to the doctor's office later.

Gajeel handed Levy her cup back. She took a long sip and leaned back. "Well, I gotta get going. I'll see you tomorrow, though. Same place?" Even though they hardly got any work done.

"You got it. You want me to walk you home?" He asked hopefully.

Levy sighed inwardly. She would love it, but she was going to get checked out. It's not everyday that you cough up blood. "Maybe next time, I've got some things I need to pick up."

He nodded and they headed their separate ways.

When Levy got to the doctor's office, they asked her lots of questions and took lots of different tests. About two hours later, they came back with grim faces.

"Ms Levy, you have tested positive for stage four lung cancer."

Levy couldn't believe it. Not now. This can't be happening. "Stage four?"

The female doctor sat down in her little spinny chair. "Stage four cancer is where it starts in your lungs and spreads to other parts of your body." She took Levy's hand in hers gently. "But your case is... different. Because it's so developed, you cannot start chemotherapy because of the risk of death."

Levy stared blankly into the eyes of the doctor. She seemed so kind. "So... I'm going to die?"

"Well... yes. You have an estimated three weeks at most."

Levy became very cold. Three weeks. Three.... If even. Levy smiled softly at the doctor. "Thank you very much."

The doctor nodded sadly, knowing that there was no way this girl was going to live that long. If only she'd come in sooner.

Walking out of the dreary doctor's office, Levy planned things out in her head. She and Gajeel would meet every other day after school to work on their project. She would write a letter saying everything. And then she would die. And then she would die. But she wouldn't tell Gajeel a word of any of it.
