Chapter 9

I paced back-and-forth running everything through my head .

' why was dad looking for his passport when he didn't need it ? '

I sat down at the bottom of the stairs , and Ross pulled in the driveway . I can see the front door from the stairs and Austin is still with him . I've met him a few times , he seems nice , ' but you never know . '

" I'm home--- oh there you are . " Ross said walking through the door , noticing me on the stairs .

" hey , I seen the pictures . "

" yeah , I wish it wasn't true too . " Ross said , while Austin walked through the door .

" hey , little man . " he said like I was eight .

" hey , Ross I just remembered can you go to the school and get my work ... and don't forget to tell them the situation and to get the month's work I'm going to miss . "

" okay , is it all right if Austin stays here while I run to the school ? "

" I don't care ... I just need to get started on that so I don't get behind . "

" ok ... well I'm going to go , I'll be back in about 15 minutes . " Ross said and left .

" so , why couldn't you go to the school with him ? you don't have to tell me if you don't want to . " Austin asked .

I pulled up my left pant leg .

" house arrest . " I said .

" if you don't mind me asking , but why ? you don't look like a danger to anybody . " Austin said , playfully punching my arm .

" well apparently they thought I was encouraging violence at school but I just said don't watch people get bullied , do seething about it . and my principle pulled me out by my arm aggressively blah blah blah , long story short he was arrested for sexual harassment and I was out on house arrest because I'm a danger to society . " I told him , clenching my fist wanting to punch sheriff Walsh in the throat .

" oh , I'm sorry dude ... so your stuck in the house for a month . " he asked .

" thanks and pretty much ... oh but I can go in the back yard . " I said sarcastically .

he smiled and laughed a little and the phone rang .

" it's Ross . " I said , and picked up .

* Ross' phone conversation *

me - hello .

Ross - hey , guess what .

me - what ?

Ross - Phillips was fired and lost his teaching degree .

me - are you serious ?

Ross - yep , and that means your suspension has been cancelled but you still can't come to school , because of Walsh ... but the suspension has been taken off your school record .

me - that's good .

Ross - and instead of you doing the work on your own your teachers will come to the house and help you , because when you get back , there is only two more weeks of school .

me - that's helpful . when are they coming .

Ross - well math is on Mondays , science on Tuesdays , language arts on Wednesdays and History on Thursdays , but Home Ec. and Spanish you have to do the work on your own . but Hannah is in those classes and she said she could come over and help you .

me - okay , that's sounds good . I will text her later . did you get the work though ?

Ross - I got those two classes , your teachers will bring your work when they come next week .
