There was an annoying ring next to my ear. I cracked open one eye and looked around the room. I groaned as I turned to my side to continue sleeping.

"Tris, freaking shut that off!"

Wang, my brother, yelled from across the room. We were room neighbors as the bathroom was in the center between our rooms.

"It's not mine!"

I shouted back as I sluggishly sat up from my bed and looked around my annoying hot pink colored walls. I looked over my bed and saw my phone vibrating the hell out of its battery off on the ground. Like I had thought, when I turned off the alarm. The phone was at a low battery percentage. I cursed in my head as I plugged it in to charge. I scratched my head as I sluggishly walked at a snail's pace out of my bedroom. I glanced at the clock before me and froze on spot.

My eyes widened as I realized that I was two hours late to school. I cursed at myself once again and rushed to get ready. I got dressed and quickly shoved my two big feet into my shoes. I grabbed my backpack and ran down the block towards my school. A perk of living close to school. Just kidding, it's not really a perk when I oversleep and also need to run. I reached the front door and paused as I evened my breath. I reached for the door and went into the building.

I moved through the empty hall and reached the front office. I pulled open the door and went in, seeing the usual attendant lady on her computer, behind the counter.

"H-hello, I overslept."

"Good morning, Hon. Just sign this sheet of paper and I'll write you a tardy pass really quick."

"T-thank you."

I wrote my name down, along with the time I came in and the reason. I took the tardy pass from the lady and walked out the door. When I turned the corner, my face bumped into a wall of flesh. I fell on my booty, which I should say is flat as a board. My glasses had fallen off and I moved my hands around the floor to try and find my glasses.

"Sorry, I didn't see you there. Do you need help?"

A male voice spoke up. I finally found my glasses and quickly placed them on. I glanced up and saw that it was Jaxon.

"N-no. I was in a rush and didn't watch where I was going."

"Aren't you in one of my classes? Was it... Calc?"

"Y-yeah."

"I see. Well, I better get going before the stinking teacher nags me, so see you later."

"Y-yeah..."

After he walked past me, I facepalmed and groaned in embarrassment. Apparently, Jaxon had just come from the workout room. His shirt wasn't on him and he only had shorts on. The delicious sight of his packing abs was amazing. Not that I was staring. It was just a quick glance...really. It was so nerve-racking as I struggled to keep my eyes from wandering. I slumped my shoulders in defeat as I continued to my class.

"Hey, Tris. Go give me some."

"Wha?"

I was very confused as my friend, Mel, asked me a weird question.

"I was talking about your, you know."

"My...what?"

"Like give me some of your smartness."

Royra cut in with a mysterious smile...

"Okayy... one, that's not possible. Two, why are you looking at me like that?"

"Oh you know, Mel's in love with Zane, and Zane is friends with you and your cousin."

"Correction, he's my cousin's friend."

"Don't lie, I see how you guys interact."

"What do you mean?"

"Like that time you played with his hair in science class."

"What's wrong about that?"

"You're friends with Zane."

"I'm not gonna ask him out for you."

"Aw come on, please Trissss."

"...no."

I rejected as I, dead eye, stared straight into Mel's begging eyes. She pouted and played with the horrible school food, using her spork.

"Hey, Tris. Help me for a bit."

"Ugh, why? Give me a good enough reason Jace."

Jace was my younger cousin, who only cared about playing and never does his homework.

"Aye, it's not as bad as you think.

I silently look at Jace, counting down. Three. Two. One.

"Alright! I need you to cover for me after school."

"Why?"

"Because my friends and I want to go to the park and hang at DQ."

"Why should I help you?"

"Because you are the only one that can help. Pleassee. Zane and Jaxon are coming too. You know how strict my parents are. They like you better because you're smart... And lame."

I raised a brow at him as I caught the last bit. Which he had murmured under his breath. For a while, I was silent, and then I gave up. I released a sigh as I rolled my eyes afterward.

"Fine, but you own me."

"Yes! Thanks! Zane, Jaxon! Tris agreed to come with us!"

"Wait, what?!"

"Too late, you agreed!"

Jace laughed as the bell for the end of lunch rang. I groaned in irritation as I walked back to class after saying bye to my girl friends.

I walked out of the school building and nearly died from the radiating heat of the sun. I let out another groan and walked towards my home. Before I could take another step further, an arm landed on my shoulder and I turned to see that it was Zane.

"Aye Tris. You're going the wrong way. Remember? DQ and the park?"

"Oh shut it, Zane. I need to put my stuff away so give me a few freaking minutes. And take your sweaty ass arm off, it's hot out here as it is. Just because I used to have an extremely tiny, very tiny, crush on you in grades school, doesn't mean you get any benefits as friends now."

"Ugh, my poor heart. Baby, you hurt me with those stabbing words."

I rolled my eyes at Zane as he faked gripping his chest as if I had stabbed him in his heart and he was in serious pain. Jace ran out of the school and found the two of us. He quickly reached us and I slapped his back with the book I was holding.

"Ow! What was that for?!"

"For tricking me! Hmph."

Jaxon came close behind us as he laughed at our normal routine of bickering.
