Chapter 2: Meeting him

We met in the Sorting ceremony, by chance. If one event didn't happen, we would never of met.

Sasha looked around at all the faces that surrounded her, some familiar some not so.

But what caught her eye was the two faces that had accompanied her for half of the journey on the train, "Sirius! James!"

The boys, hearing their names, looked up and saw Sasha waving frantically to them.

"Hey Sasha," Sirius said with a smile, "Thought we'd lost ya back there."

"Oh shove off, you two are never getting rid me that easily." The girl replied with a small dainty laugh, the kind she had been told was suitable for a lady.

"Sasha, this is Remus Lupin. Remus, this is Sasha Waters." James said introducing the two strangers to each other.

"Hi..."

"Hello..."

Sirius and James looked at Remus and Sasha before looking at each other, "Merlin's beard this is awkward..." James mumbled.

"S-Sorry, I just... Don't do well around girls, or anyone I don't know really..." Remus stuttered, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand.

"There is no need for an apology."

"Welcome to Hogwarts. Now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin. Now, while you are here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you house points. Any rule breaking, and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup." A voice said snapping the group out of their conversation, "The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily." The woman said before leaving.

"What house do you guys think you'll get?" James whispered, "I hope I get Gryffindor, that's the best house."

"I'll probably get Slytherin, my whole family has been in that house for generations."

"I don't know what I'll get." Remus and Sasha said in unison before staring at each other while the two other boys sniggered.

Sasha sent a warm smile to Remus, "Well, let's face the unknown together."

"Yeah..." For the first time since he met James and Sirius, Remus felt like he had been accepted.

"We're ready for you now." The woman said coming back in.

The group of four followed the stream of new students into the room behind a pair of big double doors, James looked up at the roof in wonder.

"Guys... Check that out..." He whispered.

"Its bewitched to look like the night sky, I read about it in Hogwarts: A History." Sasha said quietly to the group of boys still in awe of the ceiling.

"All right, will you wait along here, please? Now, before we begin, Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words."

A man, apparently called Dumbledore, stood up from the main table, "I have a few start of term notices I wish to announce. The first years please note that the dark forest is strictly forbidden to all students. Also, our caretaker, Mr. Filch, " He signalled to ragged man holding a cat with red eyes,"Would like to remind students that the contraband cupboards are out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a most painful death. Thank you."
