Chapter 2

Emily's POV

"Emily, I was thinking maybe you and your friends can make an ensemble and play in the concert, alright?" My mom asked me privately before releasing me to go to practice with Trish and Chris. I was alright with my mom's decisions so she brought me some of my friends from the school and they are: Miranda, Shervon, Hannah, Keith and surprisingly, she asked Darren to play with us too. Darren was still kind of downcast from what happened and he did not feel that comfortable as I could tell he wanted some time alone, but I guess my mom's motive to out him here is to have fun and relieve his stress about his results.

After that, we had to practice for the finale item at the end of the concert. Keith and I were chosen to play the glockenspiel, Miranda and Hannah were tasked to play the metallophones, and Darren was asked to play the saxophone. In this context, we were known as 'The 5 Pillars of Support'. Unfortunately, Hannah and Keith had to leave early so I had to play Keith's part for now. When we were rehearsing, the director came by to monitor our progress. She saw something a little off, and she said, "Darren, Emily, both of you need to play the music as if you both fell in love with each other. The both of you need more eye contact and you both need to feel the music more." When I heard that, I acted as if I disagreed with her statement, telling him that I would never like a guy like him.

Trisha's POV

oH mY gOSH IS MY SHIP REALLY HAPPENING RN *internally screaming*

Darren's POV

"Darren, Emily, both of you need to play the music as if you both fell in love with each other. The both of you need more eye contact and you both need not feel the music more." When my piano teacher said that, I could see that Emily had the same reaction as me, thinking that this was a little too much for us as we are still 14!! We were both pretty shocked but we did not take it to heart AND we somehow took her advice on having more eye contact.

Thankfully we had a short break, so I went into the piano room that contained my bag and went in to get water. When I went out, I saw Emily standing there at the side using her phone. I closed the door and Emily approached me and asked, "Hey whats in that room? And why did you lock yourself up in there and practice on your own?" I told her it was none of her business but she tried to open the door. when I managed to hold the door, she just gave up and slammed the door shut. The worst thing was that she did not realise that she slammed the door on my fingers!!

Emily's POV

"OWW WHAT WAS THAT FOR? Now I can't play the saxophone properly..." Darren shouted in pain, then started whining. "Well, aren't you a gentleman, and one that does not show his feelings and keeps the pain to himself? But seriously, are your fingers alright? I'm really sorry..." I said that in a mocking manner, but I became concerned about him as I was afraid he wasn't able to play the saxophone properly.

Darren's POV

"Its fine, and I'm fine. Don't get too worried, I'm really okay, it's just a small mark on my fingers and it doesn't hurt." I gave her that reassuring smile and I could tell that her worries for me were gone. After some time, we went back to rehearsals and guess what? The concert is next week!! I felt much better after spending time with Emily... WAIT why am I thinking about her now?

When I got home, I flopped on my bed and dreamt about Emily... WAIT WHY HER AGAIN??!!

Emily's POV

When rehearsals were over, I bid my farewells and went home. as my tired body collapsed onto the bed, I started to fall asleep, still thinking about Darren... WAIT I ALREADY TOLD MYSELF I WOULDNT THINK ABOUT HIM... oh well, I have to wait until next week to see him and THE CONCERT IS NEXT WEEK AHH!!
