The Mute Singer...?

Chapter 1

Hi im Dakota or kota, here are a few things you should know about me before we really start my story. 1 im mute, 2 i have a twin brother named Drew, 3 our parents died in a car crash when we were 12, 4 we were adopted by John and Missy when we were 15, 5 we have been homeschooled until this year.

"Kota! Come down here food is ready!" Drew yells. I run down stairs to see my favorite meal. Pancakes bacon and eggs. I jump up and down and run to Missy and kiss her cheek. After we finished eating the most amazing meal ever. We get dressed, Missy is taking us shopping today for school. We have 3 more days till school starts and I'm scared. Drew told me that I will be fine and not to be scared but I still am what if everyone thinks I'm weird cause I don't speak? What if no one wants to be my friend? What if my brother leaves me? God I'm over thinking this..... I just need it to be over with already.

-At the mall-

We are in zoomiez its the last store that we are going to today and I already have a handful of clothes I found some very cute crop tops and some sweatshirts and jeans as we are walking to the checkout I run into someone and drop everything. I look up and see a guy with blonde hair and bright blue eyes. "Omg. I'm so sorry are you oka?" He asked. I nod me head and smile. I bend down and start to pick up the clothes and helps me and hands me the clothes. "My names luke. What's yours?" I just nod my head and pull out my phone and type

Dakota

He gives me a confused look. "Why don't you talk?"

I type: I'm mute...

He smiles and started to do something on my phone and I looks he was putting his number in it. He smiles and hands it back. And says "I'll text you later." I smile and blush than nofd my head and walk over to drew and smile. "Ready to go home?" He asked as we walked out to find Missy.

-Back home-

"Kota. Go try on your clothes than come down and show us!!" Missy says as we walk in the livingroom. I laugh and run up stairs to my bathroom.

After I finished try on all of the clothes I texted Missy and asked if I could cut my hair for school she asked me how short and I told her about my shoulder and said its fine as long as I'm happy.
I texted my aunt Taylor and she said she could and to come to her shop in 15 minutes.

After I cut my hair I went to Mc Donalds and ordered on the new menu thing they had and sat in the back booth and waited for my number to be called. I had my note book with me and I started working on my new song when I head someone sit down in front of me. I was scared to look up. I mean who comes to McDonalds at 11 O'Clock at night. Before I got enough courage to look up he said something. "Hey sorry if I scared you, but my friend gave me this dare to get your number so do you think I could have it?"  I looked up and shook my head 'no' and he got this angry look on his face and asked again "can I have your number?" I shook my head 'no'  again and he got even more mad and he was about to say something else when some guy with long blonde hair come and sat next to me and said "Hey babe, sorry I took so long in the bathroom. Is this guy bothering you?" I shook my head yes and he leaned forward and got in the guys face and said "If you mess with my girl again I will find you and it won't be pretty." The guy looked scared and said "Hey man, it won't happen again oka." Than ran to his friends and left. They guy who just saved me was still sitting in the same spot his arm around my shoulder and when he knew the guy was one he took it off and sat in front of me, and just smiled. It wasn't a creepy smile it was friendly he had demples deeper than the ocean. He's smile soon faded away "Your not gonna say thank you or anything for what I just did?" He said in a soft voice. Very diffrent from the one he used with the guy seconds ago. I pulled my phone and and typed

Thank you. I'm Dakota by the way.

He smiled, "Ashton"

Cute, thank you for doing that you didn't have to

"But I wanted to. I know if my sister had someone do that to her I would like some to help her too." He said sweetly. Than he asked a question I hate having to answer. "Why don't you talk?"

My smile faded and typed on my phone me again

I'm mute...

He he gave me a confused look. And said "Why is that?".  My eyes start to well up with tears and I quickly look away looking at the ground as if it was the most amazing thing in the world. He than broke the silence " That was very rude of my I'm sorry Dakota I shouldn't have asked that." I give him a small smile and had him my phone, he looks at me confused again and I giggle and open my contacts and hand it back. He than laughs "Wow I'm special aren't I, you would have never given that guy your number but I did even have to ask." I laugh and shake my head after he has it back I got back to my notes and type

I have to go my brother is gonna worry.

"I'll see you later, you go to Northview?" He asked I pull my phone back out and type

Yes me and my brother will be going this year. It will be out first year in public school!

He laughs at my excitement "Well I'll see you on Monday. Bye Dakota" I wave and walk to my car and drive home. When I get inside everyone is already asleep so I head to my room and get in bed. Tonight had been interesting. As I think over the events of tonight I slowly drift in to a deep sleep.
