"So I know ya'll city folks have your giant festivals but the Ferris has the best views of the sun set." Maria promised, her cheek resting on Zayn's shoulder. They had been helping set up stands and place out food since the early morning sun, but now, the giant star was kissing the mountains as it was hitting almost 8.

Zayn chuckled, swinging their links fingers between them. "As long as I have you by my side, I'm happy." He kissed the soft hair on her head, she still smelled of the funnel cake she had just been running. Elvis played from a big radio, people danced and laughed, smiling at the couple as they walked mindlessly through the festival.

"Bet I can beat you at Bernard's Haunting." Maria tugged him to a stand, two orange BB guns waiting for them. "You just shoot and break the bottles and use the least bullets, winner gets to choose their prize." Zayn nodded, eyeing the bottle before shooting it, breaking the glass milk bottle, turning to Maria with a confident smirk.

Maria cleared her throat, aiming the BB gun before shooting the first 3 bottles, shooting once more and getting the last bottle. Bernard chuckled, tossing her a bear. "As you shooting." Maria giggled and Zayn blinked, turning back to his bottles. He got the first 2 down with ease, leaving the last. "You got this boo."

Zayn pursed his lips together, shooting the bottle but only having it tip back with a crack. He groaned inwardly, now only having one more bullet before using more than Maria. He shot again, taking the neck off the bottle. "Damnit!" He growled, "I wanna go again." He looked at Bernard who quickly changed his bottles.

17 dollars and 4 trys later, Zayn smiled in pride as he pointed to a white bear. "Thanks sir." Zayn took the bear with a nodd. Maria discarded her other bear, putting it in a nearby stroller before skipping back to her boyfriend who stood with an awaiting hand.

"Can we get on the ferris?" Maria looked up at Zayn, smiling at his handsome features against the dimming sun. He nodded, taking out his wallet and pulling out their tickets. "This is like my favorite ride." She added with a giddy smile.

"I can see." He chuckled, sitting in the cart. They sat in silence, waiting for everyone else to get into their carts before the ride started. Once reaching the top, Zayn inhaling slowly, he could see why she loved it so much. The sky was lit beautifully on fire, the lakes were like foggy mirrors, the trees swayed in the wind, it seemed like he was staring at a beautiful painting.

He glanced at Maria who sat mesmerized by the sunset, one he saw so clearly in her eyes. This could have been the millionth time he's looked at her, but every time he realizes how beautiful she is. Her grandmothers ring burned in his pocket, one he wanted to surprise her with but didn't find the best time for it.

"Maria." He breathed, she looked at him, raising her thin brows in question. He slipped his hand into his pocket, toying with the velvet box. "Maria I-"

"Zayn?" He stopped, the cart going in it's cycle as they were now lower to the ground. "Zayn!" His eyes peeled back in shock as his bandmates stood behind the railing of the ride, Louis with the speaker phone. Journalists and paparazzi circling them, flashes of cameras, the towns people backed away, frowning but stayed as hospitable as possible.

"Who's that yelling?" Maria shifted, looking down, searching. "That's a cool name, Zay-nnnn." She thought aloud before turning back to Zayn with a smile. "Yea Chris?" She took his hand, playing with his fingers.

Zayn opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out. Absolutely nothing. His heart was racing, he felt for a moment like he couldn't breath, his stomach turned as he began hyperventilating. "Chris?" Maria took his face into her hands, worried. "Stop the ride!" She screamed and Zayn 's eyes widened, being at the bottom, the men did as they were told and Maria slipped out of the cart.
