Mei Ying's POV

About a week after Dre visited Chenguang's house, I arrived to school with my father dropping me off like any other days. Today is Uniform Day and as I walked into the premises, the dark shirt and a pair of black pants are the first thing I've noticed. I smiled as I saw it was Dre, unsurprisingly. Guess he forgot again.

Dre noticed me and came closer. I noticed he have an annoyed look on his face.

"Please. Just remind me when we wear our uniform. I am on my last warning." I giggled.

"Okay, I will."

"Oh hey, I hear that Chenguang is doing better." I smiled for my friend.

"Yes, she is."

"I'm glad to hear that. Being sick sucks." He shook his head as he placed his hands on his hips. He kinda reminds me of Keung when he does that posture.

I walked to the auditorium when I noticed a sign hanging on the door. My face fell.

"Hey," Dre snapped me out of my thoughts. "Are you okay?"

"My audition is tomorrow at 6:00," I told him. He can tell that I'm really nervous about this.

"But isn't that what you've been practicing for?"

"Yes, of course," I clarified.

"Don't worry. You got it," he assured me. But I'm not sure.

"What if they don't pick me?" I walked away to class as the bell rang.

"Mei Ying, wait!" He called out for me. "Okay, first of all, I'm gonna be there with you. And B, all you have to do is what your teacher says. Play the pauses. It's easy, watch." He stood still.

"See?" I laughed.

"I have to practice." I was just heading to class when Dre stops me again.

"Wait." He says something in Chinese but it came out mumbled for me so I couldn't understand it.

"What?"

"I'm starting to think you don't speak Chinese." He says it again. "Too much-a good stuff is bad stuff?" Ah! So that's what he's trying to say.

I said it correctly for him. He kind of mumbled something and he pointed to the exit behind him.

"Come on," he grabs my hands.

"Where are we going?" I asked him.

"Dang, have you been to the gym?"

"Wait, no!"

"Come on, we're gonna go have some fun."

"I have to go! No!"

"Come on, I know you want to go have some fun."

We ran off to the front of school and stopped when we saw the security guard reading the newspaper. We hid behind the wall and he shushed me, then we ran out of the school. Dre decided to carry my violin case for me. Such a gentleman. We made it to the market and found bugs on the sticks and scorpions wriggling in aluminum bowl. I know how much he is disgusted by them so I decided to pull his legs a little. I picked up one of the sticks and playfully waved it in Dre's face.

"Whoa, whoa. Okay, that's gonna give you some serious gas. Don't do it!"

We ran down the sidewalk, with people parting way for us, rhythmically moving their umbrellas away from us. We headed to the outside of Olympic Village where there's water spurting out in different areas. We ran around them, trying not to get drenched.
