Bughead: opposites attract

Chapter 32

Jughead awoke with a start, his neck hurting from where he was leaning in the hospital chair. It took him a moment for him to realise what caused him to wake up. Betty was crying and screaming in her sleep. Instantly jug snapped into action and jumped up to try and wake her up. Gently he rubbed small circles on her shoulder. "Baby, wake up, come on betts" he repeated and she sat up in a hot sweat, breathing erratic. "Hey you're okay betts, I'm here" he said giving a small smile. "Just copy my breathing for a moment okay?" He said as he inhaled and exhaled and she did the same. "You good?" He asked. "Yeah can you hold me?" She asked. "Always" he replied and he took her into his arms.

Later that day FP and Sweetpea were at the hospital with jughead while Toni and fangs went to go and set up Veronica's penthouse ready for when Betty was released. "How you doing darling?" FP asked. "I feel icky" she whined, causing jug to laugh at her childlike tone. "I want a bath and I hate these hospital gowns and I don't like the injections they give me" she moaned. "You'll be out soon betts not worry" Sweetpea said. "Juggie?" She asked. "Yeah?" He asked. "Where's my mom?". The three men in the room just looked at each other not knowing what to say. "We don't know betts they haven't found her" he said taking her hand. "Oh okay" Betty said. Jug squeezed her hand and gave her a kiss.

The nurses were doing their rounds giving Betty her check ups and medication. "Please don't give me the injection" she said when the nurse came in. "You have to have it I'm sorry" the nurse said with a smile. "Urgh" Betty said and buried her head in her pillow. "Baby, I know you hate it but you need to get better". Jug said, FP and Sweetpea agreeing. "I am better I feel better" she said sitting up but the pain was to Much and she cried out in pain. "As convincing as that was, you're still having the injection" jug laughed. Betty held on tightly to jugheads hand while the nurse injected her and the others laughed when Betty pulled a face at the nurse when he turned to walk away. "You're adorable Betty Cooper" jug said and she kissed his cheek.
