Chapter 4| The Maze

"But why would Alby go in the maze, can't Minho go in with Thomas? He's not a runner" I said. "Things are different now. He went to retrace Ben's footsteps before sundown, Are you gonna help" Newt said chopping a tree. "Alby knows what he's doing.. all right? He knows better than any of us" Newt said. "What does that mean?" I asked. "Well, it's like you've heard yeah, every month the Box sends up a new arrival, someone had to be first right! Someone had to spend a whole month in the Glade alone, that was Alby" newt said.
"I mean it couldn't have been easy, but when this boys started coming up, one after another, he saw the truth, that we all have each other because we're all in this together" he said. I sighed and stood up and grabbed an axe and started chopping. "Yeah! There you go Greenie!" Newt said.

~Time Skip~

It was raining and everyone was sat around waiting for Alby and Thomas to come back. "They should be back by now!" I said. "They'll make it" Newt said. "What if they don't?" I said. "They're going to make it!" Newt said.
"But.." I started. "Y/N I know you care about them but you shouldn't worry so much, you're too beautiful to being worrying" he said holding my arms. "Oh.. Okay" I said blushing. Newt went back to leaning on some wood. I walked away into the forest area and decided to walk around for a while.
'Newt is so kind, and sweet, and he's not got bad looks either' I thought. 'But I won't bother him with my fantasies'. I heard rustling behind me which stopped my thoughts. I thought back to when I was here last. TERESA!
I ran back out in the open to see Newt and everyone gathered around the doors. I saw Thomas dragging Alby, sweat dripping down his face, scars all over his face. "Can't we send someone in after him!" I said. "No it's against rules, either make it back or dont" Gally said. "We can't risk losing anyone else" Newt said.
Newt grabbed my hand "They'll make it". My face became red as I felt Newt let go I saw Thomas struggling to carry Albys weight. The doors came closer together. I heard lots of screams coming from each guy.
"Come on Thomas you can do it!"
"Come on you can make it!"
"Thomas, you gotta leave him!"
They're not going to make it!" I said. "You gotta leave him!" Gally yelled again. After that it was all a blur but I started running into the maze. I felt Newt's hand graze mine as I ran in. "Y/N! NO!" Newt yelled.
"Congratulations, you just killed yourself!" Thomas said. "What?!" I said.
