"Keep it up, guys, we're almost there!" Thomas said. We all turned a corner and came to an immediate stop when Thomas looked nervous. "Is it a Griever?" Chuck asked. "Yeah. Shit." Thomas said.  "You take this, Chuck. Stay behind us." Thomas said handing chuck the key to the griever hole.

"It's okay. Just stick with me." Teresa said. "Once we're through, it will activate and the door will open. We stay close, we stick together... we get through this. We get out now... or we die trying. Ready? All right. Let's go!"Thomas said giving a pep talk before running up to the griever. Newt, Thomas, Minho, Frypan, Winston, and I began to fight the griever.   Get up, look out! Push it! Look out!" Thomas yelled while fighting off the griever. Chuck and Teresa stood behind the griever and held the key, until a griever walked up to chuck and pushed him over causing him to drop the key.

"The key!" Chuck said running towards the rolling key. He reached out and grabbed the key before falling off the edge. This incident caused more and more grievers to come up. "Chuck! Watch the edge, I got you Chuck!" Teresa said pulling Chuck up.  "Come on!" Teresa said pulling him towards the exit.

"Thomas! Thomas!" Chuck yelled. "Chuck?" He said.  "We got more coming!" Chuck said. "Keep it steady, guys!" Thomas yelled. "It works!" Chuck said.

"Teresa, go!" I yelled. "Don't back down! Keep pushing!" Thomas said. "Stay together!" Newt said standing in front of me. "There's gotta be a way out! Come on!" Teresa said.  "It won't open! Thomas! There's a code! Eight numbers!" Teresa yelled.

"Eight sections of the maze. Hey, Minho! What's the sequence?" Thomas said.  "What?" Minho said. "The sections of the maze, what's the sequence?" Thomas said. "Seven! One! Five! Two! Six! Four! Heads up!" Minho yelled. "Minho!" I yelled.

"Minho!" Teresa said. "Oh! Get off of me! Jeff!"Minho yelled. "What's the sequence? Come on!" Chuck yelled. "Six! Four! Eight! Three! You got it?" Minho yelled. "Keep holding! Almost there, come on!" Newt said as we all backed up in the hole.

"The door opened!" Chuck exclaimed. "Come on!" they yelled. We walked in the hole and walked into a long bleak hallway. As we walked I felt someone grab my hand and looked down to see Newt's hand clasped in mine. We continued to walk for another minute turning corners until we reached a door that said 'EXIT'.

"Seriously?" Frypan said. We walked in, bodies covered the floors and behind the glass cages people were being held in. "What happened here?" Thomas said. "So they were watching us. This whole time."  Newt said. Walking around you could see the screens that watched the Glade.

You could see the empty grass, the broken buildings, all of the hard work scattered in different areas of the Glade. I looked around the other screens to see if Gally was there. He wasn't there, I felt tears start to fill my eyes as someone put their hand on my shoulder. As much as I disliked Gally I would never wish death on someone. I heard a feminine voice in the room and turned around along with everyone else.

"Hello. My name is Doctor Ava Paige. I'm Director of Operations of the World Catastrophe Killzone Department. If you're watching this, that means you have successfully completed the Maze Trials." Ava said. I looked around and saw less than what we had come with.  "I wish I could be there in person to congratulate you...but circumstances seem to have prevented it. I'm sure by now, you must all be very confused... angry frightened. I can only assure you, that everything that's happened to you... everything we've done to you... it was all done for a reason." She continued. I looked behind her to see people in armor rushing in shooting the doctors and everyone in the facility. "You won't remember... but the Sun has scorched our world. Billions of lives lost to fire... famine... suffering on a global scale. The fallout was unimaginable. What came after was worse. We called it the Flare. A deadly virus that attacks the brain. It is violent... unpredictable... incurable. Or so we thought. In time, a new generation emerged that could survive the virus. Suddenly, there was a reason to hope for a cure. But finding it would not be easy. The young would have to be tested, even sacrificed... inside harsh environments... where their brain activity could be studied. All in an effort to understand. what makes them different... what makes you different. You may not realize it... but you're very important. Unfortunately, your trials have only just begun. As you will no doubt soon discover, not everyone agrees with our methods. Progress is slow, people are scared. It may be too late for us... for me... but not for you. The outside world awaits. Remember..." She said as she pulls out a gun.

"Oh my God!" I said. "Wicked is good." She said pulling the trigger. I hid my face in Newt's chest. "Is it over?" I asked lifting my head up to see Newt nodding. "She said we were important." Minho said.

"What are we supposed to do now?" I asked looking at Thomas for reassurance.  "I don't know. Let's get out of here." He said turning around. I turned around when I heard a distinct voice. It was shaky and slurred. I turned around to see Gally pointing a gun at Thomas.

"Gally?" I said. "Don't. He's been stung." Newt said grabbing my shoulder. "We can't leave." Gally said. "We did. Gally, we're out. We're free." I said. "Free? You think we're free out there? No. No, there's no escape from this place" Gally said.

"Gally, listen to me. You're not thinking straight. You're not. Now, we can help you. Just put down the gun." Thomas said.  "I belong to the maze." He said. "Just put down the gun." Thomas said. "We all do." He said pulling the trigger. Before the bullet could reach Thomas, Chuck jumped in front of him and dodged the bullet.

As the bullet rang out Minho threw a spear at Gally and it plunged in his heart."Thomas..." Chuck said. "Chuck. Oh, shit. Shit. Look at me, look at me! Oh, shit! Chuck, look at me, all right? I got you, buddy. Just hang on." Thomas said holding Chuck in his arms. Everyone starts crying as Chuck speaks again. "It's okay. Thomas, Thomas..." Chuck said handing Thomas a carved piece of wood.

"No, Chuck. You're gonna give it to them yourself. Remember, I told you that. Take it. No." Thomas said forcing it into Chuck's hands. "Thank you. Thank you." Chuck said slowly drifting into sleep. "No, Chuck, you're gonna get- Chuck. Chuck? Hey. Hey, Chuck, come on! Come on, wake up! Damn it! We made it. Come on. I'm sorry! God damn it! Damn it!" Thomas said sobbing as some of us were being dragged out of the facility.

"Thomas" Teresa said.  "Chuck! Get up, Chuck! Come on! Chuck! You can't just leave him there!" Thomas said.  "You guys all right? Don't worry. You're safe now. Relax, kid." They said yanking me from Newt's hand and dragging me to a helicopter with the rest of the Gladers. "Everything is gonna change." They said.

Ava POV:

"I think it's safe to say the Maze Trials were a complete success. I wasn't expecting so many survivors, but... the more the merrier. Thomas continues to surprise and impress. And for now, they seem to have taken the bait. It's too soon to say... but they could be the key to everything. So let's move forward. It's time now to begin Phase Two." I said turning to a table of business men and scientists.
