The world flew past me so fast. TOO fast.

/So that's what my mother was saying by "We'll take care of him later" and "It doesn't matter anyway."/ I thought. /It's still not fair, though./

I spread my wings and tried to catch as much air as possible. Despite the size of my wings, I was able to glide a little bit. I slowly glided down to the ground. I was in a forest mostly made up of pine trees. I found what seemed to be the only deciduous tree in the forest and huddled up next to it. Orange leaves hung above me as I waited. Then I heard a loud SNAP!

I immediately ran in the opposite direction of the noise."Wait! I won't hurt you!" said a voice behind me. I turned around and looked. A magenta wolf with black swirls all over her fur stood before me."Hi," she said, "I'm Cariline, or Cari, for short."

"Hi, I'm Scratch," I said nervously.

"Well, Scratch," Cariline said, "meet the eastern wolf pack."

   "Huh?" I replied, confused.

"Well," she said, "the wolves around here are divided into five packs. The central pack, the southern pack, the northern pack, the western pack, and us, the eastern pack."

   "Wow," I said.

"Anyway," Cariline started, "Let's go meet the rest of the pack."

   "Okay," I replied, feeling exited.

We walked into a large clearing in the forest with many rocks in it. Cariline jumped up on top of the biggest rock and started speaking to me."This is the meeting room," she said, "but it's empty right now. She then walked through the forest to another clearing, but this time, larger. There were many wolves in there, and they all seemed to be eating. "This is the common room," Cariline said, then pointed to another clearing. "And this is the sleeping room," she announced.

"Visitors?" a grey-white wolf said from the common room.

   "Yes," Cariline said.

   "Who is she?" I asked.

"Well," Cariline said, "she's Kara, the moon wolf, so she's actually a princess.

Kara stepped forward and asked me what my name was. "Scratch," I answered quietly.

"Wow," Kara said, you look young. Why aren't you up in a nest like the rest of the dragonets?"

"Well," I replied, "I was thrown off the cliff."

   "Oh," Kara said,  "how terrible!"

"Anyway," I started, "can I stay a while?"

"Actually," Cariline said, "If you were abandoned, you can stay here your entire life!"

I stared at the wolves for a second. I was staring at my new family.
