Bored eyes stared out the window of the classroom, an inaudible sigh escaped her lips. The patter of the rain on the windows drummed melodically throughout the silent classroom. The curtains swayed lightly, possibly the remnants of a breeze that came through an open window somewhere.

Crossed ankles folding beneath her chair, she leaned forward onto her palm. Watching the baseball club rush inside, the track club finish their drills with haste, and all other students hurrying out with umbrellas.

The bright colours reflected in her purple eyes. She shut them for a moment before standing up slowly, chair clattering loudly against the floor - echoing in the empty room. Silently retrieving her bag from the hook, she stood by the window and took a relaxed stance as she peered into the sky.

Bright raindrops dancing in the sky, falling slowly down to the ground. The drops reflected all sorts of colours from the spectrum. Red, green, blue, yellow, purple, she couldn't grasp their full untainted beauty. Ephemeral and desolated.

Taking one last look around the class, she stepped away from the window and into the hallway. Empty. Her shoes clacked against the flooring as she traversed through the isolated halls. Not a sound escaped her petite lips, even when greeted by underclassmen.

She changed her footwear and approached the umbrella rack. Taken, as she expected.

Shuffling her bag further onto her shoulder, she set off into the downpour. Not taking a brisk pace or breaking into a run, she walked casually and slowly into the blurred streets.

The crackle of the rain against the pavement deafened her from hearing anything else. Not the sounds of car engines, nor their screeching tires and horns. Not the rustle of trees, the heavy footsteps of people running in the rain - searching for shelter.

Nothing.

Senses blinded by nothing but the rain. Lifting her head up to stare into the deep blue abyss, she allowed the water to splash onto her face, drench her hair and uniform, and slowly dribble down her cheeks.

She breathed a light sigh, feeling the freezing water against her warm face.

Feeling a gaze on her, she averted her head to the direction she supposed it came from. Nose still facing the sky, her eyes trained on a tall figure just a few metres away from her.

She thought she was alone in the street, it wasn't a busy neighbourhood. She didn't recognise the suit wearing man either. From just appearance alone, it was clear he originated from Japan, perhaps China.

When their eyes met, a surge of heat flew down from her heart to her stomach. Causing her pupils to dilate momentarily at the sudden rush of emotion. What was it?

Like her, he didn't hold an umbrella. Nor did he seem to be in a hurry; in fact it seemed like he was taking his time.

Not thinking any more of the strange sensation, she blinked. Turning away, she walked past the man. Envious of his sharp eyes, her shining but apathetic optics were laughable. She blamed it on young naivety, but also isolation and unfortunate maturity.

It didn't stop raining.

She found herself sat in a cafe on the weekend for her usual lunch. The rain had become apparent just after she was seated. Her drink came and she occupied herself with one of Dazai's works.
She wasn't much for reading, but she saw it on the bookshelf of the cafe and decided it'd be the book she'd skim through today.

It was just after her food came that she noticed a familiar face sat by the windows of the small shop. He was wearing the same stoic expression from before, only this time it was trained on the rain outside. Perhaps he saw the weather as a bother to his schedule.
