The school day began and ended with no excitement what so ever. After second block I was ready to be back in my bed, being a senior you really just go to school for attendance, as all of your main classes are already completed.

But the sound of the last bell gives my heart some hope that I'll make it out of here and my day will finally begin.

I can't remember the last time I've been to a football game and maybe I can just forget about Marcus and let myself have some fun.

I meet Jasmine at her locker and we begin to walk back to our cars.

"So are we chilling at mine tonight? What's the game plan?" She looks over at me and I know what I'm about to say is not what she's expecting.

"Actually Josh invited me to come watch him at the game and then go to the after party so I was thinking we could do that." She blinked at me and then started laughing.

"I think that's the funniest thing you've said a semester. We'll have to stop by the store and get some snacks and we can head to my place."

I rolled my eyes at her and said "no I'm being serious, we're going to the game and then the after party"

"Well look, my baby's growing up." She wiped the side of her eye like she was getting emotional. I popped her on the shoulder and started walking to my car.

"I've got my bag packed so we can just get ready at your house." I threw my book bag into my backseat and started my Jeep.

"Okay I'll meet you there" she said.

It takes roughly ten minutes to get to Jasmine's house and I blare my speakers the entire time. I love car rides, it's the time I can just think and listen to my music and sing as loud as I want.

I pull into her drive way, still stunned by the size of her house, mine was just as big as hers but it might just hold more significance to me because her actual family lives there, and half of mine was taken from me.

Jasmine pulls in a second later and I grab my bags out of the backseat.

"You know I still can't believe that THE Josh you've been practically in love with forever has finally noticed you. And I especially can't believe you agreed to a party, I've been trying to get you to come out with me for months."

Her words do sting, the realization that I've dropped my wall on parties for a guy when I wouldn't even do that for my best friend. But I shake it off because I know she'll get over it.

"How about this, the next party you want to go to I promise I'll go with you. No questions asked." She jerked her head up to me.

"Are you serious? You promise?"

"I promise jasmine." She sequels like a child and I laugh as we climb the stairs to her bedroom.

We get to her room and I plop down on her familiar lilac sheets and stare up at the ceiling. Jasmine was like a sister to me and I've spent many nights laying here with her, crying about my parents or laughing at a comedy on her tv. I don't know where I would be without jasmine and I don't want to find out either.

"So what are you wearing to the game?" She asked me as she stuck her head out of her closet door.

"I brought some ripped jeans and just a school shirt, I might steal a flannel of yours to wear over it." She walked out of her closet in her underwear and a bra with her hands on her hips.
