he even took a professional picture of sooyun and said that he wanted to be a photographer.

however, as he kept scrolling through his photo album, i wasn't jealous. i was actually a bit sad that taehyung had to recover on his own, after hearing his story.

his smile lit up the whole night sky when he looked through those pictures. the only way for him to smile that brightly, his only source of happiness...

...is sooyun.

if only i could make taehyung smile the way she could for him.

"what the hell do you want me to do?!" a shout interrupts my thoughts. as i'm lying on my bed, i cover myself with my purple sheets.

"just..." i hear murmuring from my mother. i can't make out a word she says or what was happening because of my door being shut, which blocks off the noise.

a tear streams down my cheek as many thoughts cross my mind.

i'll never get used to this.

what's happening down there?

i'm scared.

after what seems to be an eternity, the shouting stops.

"heeyoung!" my mom calls for me. i slowly go downstairs to see her.

i look at her and my eyes widen from shock. i turn my eyes away from her.

"yes, mom? where's dad?" i notice that he isn't with her.

"c-can you go to the nearest coffee shop and order something for me? it doesn't matter, we just ran out," she avoids my question completely.

"alright," i shrug, choosing not to bother her anymore, and walk out the door. as i walk to the coffee shop, i come back to my thoughts.

we're just really...close.

i miss sooyun.

taehyung's voice echoes in my head.

what the hell do you want me to do?!

now it's my dad's voice.

different voices whirled through my head and tears start to well up.

don't cry, heeyoung, you're better than this, i tell myself.

i suck it up and finally arrive at the coffee shop. as i open the door, a small bell rings from the top to alarm the barista a customer has entered.

"welcome!" a cheerful woman greets me. i manage to fake smile and walk up to the counter. i look at the menu and pick a random drink for my mom.

"2.50, please," she says energetically. i hand her the money and sit down at a table. i take in the aroma of the shop and the café music playing softly. with nothing to do, i look at my surroundings. i see people chatting and drinking their coffees and others on their laptops with earbuds in. i turn my head to the right and i spot a woman with chestnut toned hair of medium length. she is dressed in very formal clothing; she has a black pantsuit paired with a maroon blazer. she is on her laptop with a cup of coffee on the side.

something about her seems...familiar.

i inspect her face, trying to remember.

oh, my god.

i finally realize who it is.

i get up and start to approach the stranger at a slow pace.

"um, hello," i begin to say. she looks up at me, her eyes sparkling. the shape of her eyebrows seem to form a worried look naturally.

"is there something i can do for you?" she asks genuinely. i take a deep breath and start to say softly,

"sooyun, would you like to see taehyung again?"
