The Bus Ride

"Goodbye Ally," mom said smiling and hugging me.  "Goodbye mom." So it turns out nothing terrible happened. Well not too terrible.  Mom decided that it would be best for me to meet my dad in New York.  So it's not the best but oh well.  I sat down waving goodbye to them.  The crooked seat squeaked as a few people shifted their eyes toward me.  A boy sat next to me wearing a red scarf and glasses.  He seemed smart.  I faced the other way as I saw a women in her mid 20's maybe.  She was carrying her son.  I waited a few minutes for the bus to arrive.  It stopped just as I walked to it pausing to wait for the doors to open.  I looked around at the people crowding around me thinking to myself 'this is gonna be a long ride'.  The bus's electric doors slid open as I put one foot in and then the other.  People shoved and pushed one another.  Not on purpose of course.  They were all minding their own business. I gripped one of the rubber handles.  As we reached a few stops more people got off.  My legs got tired of standing as I spotted an empty seat moving toward it.  I sat down thinking about what my dad looks like and what he wears or what he likes.  We reached the next stop.  An elder lady sat down next to me. She looked at me as if she wanted to start a conversation. I know it's rude but I didn't want to talk. I looked over at her and pointed to my throat hinting that it was sore.  A few short minutes later I closed my eyes making it seem as if I was sleeping.
