To hell with this guy. Nobody is stopping me now. Meka was barking, howling, dodging and jumping, playing along with her parents. This guy just doesn't want me to be happy. He's the one who told me to swim upstream which nearly got me killed. Meka jumped high up in the air, braced her clawed feet on the fallen trunk of a large oak tree, and propelled off with her Alpha-given strength, forcing her much closer to her parents then she already was before.

They were teasing her. They weren't going their fastest, letting her get close enough to think that she had a chance at catching them, and then they would boost off as if on crazy juice and stay just out of her reach. Meka ran faster, now ten feet behind her mother. There was something on her foot, like metal or something. It was shining off the reflections of the sunlight as she passed under openings in the tree covers. It definitely wasn't natural, since when had she got that. Looking ahead, she could see that her father had one too, on his back left paw. It was on where his Achilles Heel would be. Meka looked closer, but it was out of view as her parent's jumped.

Over what? There was nothing there.

And Meka should have taken that to be clue number three.

Three strikes and you're out.

With a loud, resonating yelp she was lifted up into the air.
