"Could this day get any better?" I said under my breath as soon as I entered the room.
"Where's everyone?" I asked the last two people inside.
"Free cut." Sunny said, heading towards the door.
I heard William groan from his sit before looking at Sunny. "Let's just stay there Sun."
"Ayoko sa caf, maingay. Hindi ako makakapagbasa ng maayos." She cried.
I grabbed my bag and was about to leave when she added, "Georg, favor naman oh, paki samahan muna si William dito. May bibilhin lang ako saglit. Pleaseeeeeeeee" She begged while shaking my arm.
"ahh--" I look at William and her back and forth.
"Pleaseeeeeeee" She begged again with her puppy eyes.
"Promise hindi ka nya aawayin." She assured me before turning to William. "Hoy Will! Promise me hindi mo aawayin si Georgia habang wala ako!" She said, earning a nod from William.
"Magpromise ka muna!" She whined like a kid.
William groaned before uttering, "Promise."
I internally smiled bitterly to the familiar scenario in front of me.
"Promise"
Parang kahapon lang ako yung sinasabihan nya' ng ganyan.
I heard the door shut, bringing me back from my thoughts.
Back to the reality that after what seemed to be forever, I'm alone in a place with him again.
I awkwardly sat on a chair near me, letting the silence envelop us.
His eyes were glued on the book he's reading while mine are glued on him.
I'm staring at the reason I'm here today. The reason I came all the way from the other side of the world. A lot of things are coming to my mind all at once. Too many that I can't point out any specific one.
Funny how I've prepared so much for this moment, for the time that I will be able to finally talk to him alone, to ask him, or confront him. But now that I'm inches away from where he is, I don't know what to say. Heck, I can't even seem to find my tongue, I can't speak at the moment.
His gaze met mine ,and my eyes were on my watch in an instant.
Ten minutes, ten minutes have passed since Sunny left us and still, no one said a word.
"Scot-- William." I called.
He looked at me for a split second before going back to reading his book. Of course, he's William. I can't expect him to treat me nicely after what I did back at the cafeteria the first day we met in three years.
I sighed, if this happened more than two years ago, I would definitely never do this. My pride won't let me, but things are different now. The clock is ticking and I don't have much time.
"Can we talk?" I managed to say, but he continued reading his book.
"I know I'm asking too much." I said, taking one step closer to where he is.
I took another step, and another, and another. "Stop." One word, just one word and I halted.
"Can we talk?" I said, more like begged if you would ask.
"There's nothing to talk about." He answered, still not looking at me.
"Scott..."
"Don't call me that ." He sternly said.
