"Mama!" Dara turned around, "We were... just discussing how Fang saw a huge rabbit."
Fang nodded, playing along, "Yeah, and," he looked for the rabbit he had co-caught earlier, "it seems to have escaped though. But I'll track it down." He lifted his head.
"Alright then," Sylvia sighed, "hurry up, but when you're done, you need to return to the rest of the pack so we can get a move on. Dara and I are almost finished with Star's lesson."
"Can I help Fang?!" Dara blurted out. She crouched slightly to show submission, in hopes that her mother would be more likely to say yes.
"Why?" She said instead, "I'm sure Fang is quite capable," she stopped in the middle of her sentence and gave a motherly breath, loosening her tense ears, "you know what? It's dangerous at the edge of our territory. You two protect each other and I'll finish Star's lessons."
"Thanks, Mama!" The grey wolf pups chided.
The silvery she-alpha nodded and beckoned to her adopted pup to come follow her back to the grounds on which they had previously been hunting.
A nearby shrub soon rustled, and out into the moonlight popped a smiling Royal with two other wolf pups.
One of them was black with white rings around his legs, and amber eyes. His canine teeth stuck out slightly, but not as much as Fang's single fang.
The other one a white pup with a blue and a green eye, and she possessed black dots around her muzzle.
They both looked ready to play.
"Fang, Dara," Royal announced enthusiastically, "These are two of my litter-mates; Link and Ice."
The black one stepped forward, "Hi there! I'm Link. Wanna play?!" Dara found his bursting personality a little overwhelming, so she pulled back her ears and backed off.
"Link, you've gotta be quiet!" the white one laughed softly, "Didn't you just see the alpha of their pack? You have to be cool as ice, like me."
Link rolled his eyes at his sister. He tilted his head and came up to poor, scared Dara.
"Hi! Do you wanna play?" He knelt down in a playing position, but the light grey pup stepped back shyly.
Ice shook her head and turned to Fang, "Sorry 'bout him, he just really loves meeting new people."
Fang smiled and nodded his fluffy head. He sat down on his haunches and scratched an itch with his back paw. Dara soon came running up to him.
"Fang?" she asked, "have you met these two before?!" She cowered begins her slightly younger brother whilst Link sat down in sad defeat.
Ice laughed and went up to her own brother, "Dude, you come on too strong! Can't you see she's nervous? You gotta be more subtle when you're meetin' new wolves."
"Hey! I meet pups how I like!" Link retorted.
"Yeah, But not how they like!"
Royal padded over to Fang and Dara whilst her siblings bickered.
"Sorry about those two. They're quite wild." she said.
"They're no problem," Fang smiled, "It's just new for Dara and me to meet others."
"We'll - er - adjust," Dara added.
Royal smiled. This was going to work out.
