The Great hall was already filled with chatter and clutter of cutlery when the Marauders and their little carriage party arrived.
"Look! Half the food's already gone!" Peter exclaimed, fear of not be able to get enough food evident on his red balloon face. He didn't even wait for the others, but ran towards an empty spot on the Gryffindor table and started filling his plate with pasties and chicken breasts.
When Sirius was done eating, he decided it was time to not let others eat. "So, I have been thinking.-"
"You were thinking!?" Remus asked, interjecting him.
"Shut up, Moony. Or I will tell everyone about your strawberry socks and what you hide in them." Sirius said wriggling his eyebrows at the boy sitting in front of him, who turned the shade of the beetroot syrup in front of him.
"So, I was sayin-" Sirius continued, to be interrupted again.
"Wait! What does Remus hide in his strawberry socks again?" Peter asked, his cheeks filled with too much food.
"Shut up! Pete. So, I was saying-"
"Huh, huh"
"Not now, Dumbledore!" Sirius practically shrieked, irritated on being stopped to share his wonderful idea.
"Welcome back to the school, each and all. This year, we hope to pass in blissful peace and quite and no more clogged toilets." At this Dumbledore turned his head ever so slightly in the direction of the marauders and winked, and continued again, "As you all know, this year again, we would be hosting exchange students from Castelobruxo and Mahoutokoro Wizarding schools from the rainforests of Brazil and volcanic peak of Miami Iwo Jima, Japan respectively. I hope we will all be hostile to them upon their arrival. Now, Mr Filch, the caretaker, has asked me to tell you that the list of objects forbidden inside the castle has this year been extended to include Screaming Yo-yos, Fanged Frisbees, and Ever-Bashing Boomerangs. The full list comprises some four hundred and thirty-seven items, I believe, can be viewed in Mr Filch's office, if anybody would like to check it. Forbidden forest and the Whomping Willow should be avoided for your own personal safety, ofcourse. But other than that, Madam Pompfrey, I am sure, is happy to welcome some broken bones and pierced eyes. Now off you go, your beds await."
"Exchange students! Well, they are no fun." Sirius's said getting up, while flinging pieces of his bread at anyone it made contact with.
"And why is that? I thought you liked snogging the girls from Russia last year?" Lily said appearing beside him.
"Oh, I did. Except for the fact that she was three years older and came from a school whose name I can't pronounce. Hell with name, I can't even pronounce her name." He said, sighing.
"Well, I am sure then, you won't be doing much snogging, huh?" James asked appearing on Sirius's other side.
"Well, I don't know, it doesn't hurt if they are hot, does it?" Sirius's winked at him and galloped the remaining stairs to the fat lady, who swung aside too quickly, afraid of Sirius's mad imitation of a psychotic horse.
That night, when the Marauders reached their dorm, they all fell asleep like bears for each of them had dealt with their own things to be tired enough. Sirius had had his share of the whole summer's worth snogging in the 'Great snogging' chair in the common room with Marlene. Remus had successfully completed his second task as a perfect and guided all the first years to their dorms. James had spent the rest of the evening in the common room, planning his next 'woo Lily Evans' plan, which Remus was sure was going to fail. And Peter had gathered courage from all over his body and mustered enough confidence somehow to go ask Mary MacDonald out, only to have her get up and go up the dorm stairs oblivious of Peter and his task at hand. The four Marauders, thus fell asleep, unaware of what this year was going to bring for them.
