Chp 1: "Beginning of the End"

David Blake rushes home from the pharmacy to warn his family that "It's happening." He urgently takes his red machete and shotgun out of his weapon cabinet and tells his wife, Marian to wake up the kids and get them ready to leave. She asks him whats going on in a slightly hushed tone, He quickly tells her that there are rumors about a refugee camp and than hands her the shotgun. As Marian quickly goes and gets the children, He tries to call his daring badass brother Levi Blake, who is in Seattle, he is on his way back to his house with his girlfriend, Larissa, but David had an overdose on meds and falls into a coma.

10 years later, David gains consciousness in an hospital. He encounters sergeant Duan that explain the zombie apocalypse that still occurred while David was in a coma. Also Duan tells David about the hospital: During the apocalypse, the hospital was turned into a shelter and the military transported many citizens to the shelter by buses and military vehicles. Duan also said that the hospital is full of rations and supplies. The perimeter is fairly secure, with the feeders contained for the most part. The military soldiers is armed with guns, the hospital is very well fortified and has gardens that grows food and two generators for heat and air. Duan warns the only way to stop the feeders is to destroy the brain. Than Duan shows David around the hospital, as he tells David that the hospital is a facility and is surrounded by electric border fences that provide protection from intruders and feeders, which the hospital residents call the zombies "Feeders". To just make it easier for the people's believes in this world that went dark and horrifying. David is overwhelmed to find his wife Marian and daughters Jamie and Alyssa, among the survivors,

They discover a feeder nearby, which they quickly purpose, though fear that this may be a sign of trouble as they had yet to see. Duan shows David the bag of weapons, their was his shot gun and machete. Duan tells David to pick a weapon, he picks his red machete. Duan and six national guard took David on a supply run, to a storage facility and they went inside to investigate to see what they can find. David got the bag of books for the children back at the hospital. When the six national guards finds some feeders and got attacked, as Duan ran to David and tells him that they need to go. As feeders swarm the building, they find its escape route through the exit. They run to the Humvee and got in as Duan tries to turn it on and than they had to run from the feeder horde. David spots a box truck nearby they could use to escape.

David and Duan cover themselves in the blood and viscera of a dead feeder to mask their scent from other feeders as they walk through the horde to get to the truck. David and Duan make a break for the truck in the rush to escape, they went back to the hospital. When they got back, everyone gathered around to hear Duan saying that they made it but the others was not so lucky. Than David gave the children the books to read for their entertainment and to make it easier for them in the new world. David kiss his wife and hugged his daughters, than they and everyone sat down in the cafeteria to eat dinner.
