"Lenny."
"What is it, oppa?"
"Next week is my birthday."
"I know that, oppa."
"So... Why are we still going 10 inches away from each other?"
If you don't understand what's going on, let me explain.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, Lenny and I stay at school for a bit then go home together halfway with the rules Lenny made for this relationship-- one of them is the 'stay away 10 inches from each other' rule.
And today's Monday, and next week is my birthday.
I wanted her to remove this rule this week before my birthday...
"Can at least we hold hands before you ride the bus?" I asked. And she answered, "no" with a straightforward face, and I said "okay" as I shut my mouth.
But don't loose hope, Kim Ji Min!
"It's my birthday next week, you know."
Try to pursue her Kim Ji Min!
"It's on March 26, and today's March 19. You've got 7 days before I can give you special treatment," she said.
"Lenny, please don't act like some smartypants. It's not cute," I tried to break the ice.
"But I am not trying to act cute," she said again.
Seriously, she's not being cute.
But let's try again, they said that the third time is a charm.
"Okay, let's change the subject. My mom made kimchi."
And when Lenny heard the word kimchi, her eyes started to shine.
She repeated the word:
"KIMCHI~!"
Indeed, her eyes are shining, and I'm sure that her mouth is also watering.
"I'll bring some for lunch tomorrow. So, eat with me tomorrow," I suggested it, but it was a slip of the tongue-- honest.
But she said "okay" so fast that it surprised me!
Lenny rode her bus, but before she left, she sends me off with a punchy smile:
"See you tomorrow, oppa!"
Her smile was so dazzlingly amazing. I've never gotten tired of it since she always gives me a cold shoulder over this past 3 months.
I know you already you know this, but I'm still going to say it.
My relationship with Lenny Dale is a secret.
Don't get me wrong, I didn't want to keep our relationship a secret. However, I didn't know that Lenny wasn't allowed to have a romantic relationship until she's eighteen.
Currently, she's 16 years old, and me? I'm turning eighteen next week.
And since she is related to my homeroom teacher, Mr. Clark Dale, it seriously made me think that I need to keep this a secret until she's eighteen... I think.
"Eomma, do we still have side dishes left?" I asked her while looking inside the refrigerator.
I already got home 3 hours ago, and inside my household, we speak Hangul not English.
"What for?" My mom asked.
"For tomorrow's lunch," I answered.
"You don't like eating lunch at school," she pointed out.
