If you'll be miles away

If you'll be miles away
I'll travel the road barefoot
Till I reach the city where you stay
To catch a glimpse of you
And 'eyeshot' that adorable view.
Barefoot? Yes! barefoot, because
You can't see me cry in pain
And I'm greedy when it comes to my main
I'll persuade you to come with me to the countryside
Far away from the city we'll reside.

If you'll be miles away
You have to call me regularly
To know how was my day.
I know I'm too demanding
But that's how we'll keep tensions at bay
And I'll rant about things not working my way.
I know you'll listen carefully with a silent smile
And an unspoken promise
"Baby, I'm coming back soon. Don't you worry.
Just track the time."

If you'll be miles away
I'll send you billet-doux, handwritten
And sealed in a scented envelope to brighten your day.
I will make sure it reaches you every weekend
And you sip the potion of my love word by word
With your cup of morning tea.
And at night when the clock will strike nine
You'll get in bed tucked inside a cozy blanket
Gazing at the wall above your head
Thinking of me with my letter under your pillow
Through which I slowly whisper
"Good night! You've ended another day
Without the love of your life"

If you'll be miles away
I'll smile every night
Because one more day
Has been subtracted
From our wait.
