"I finally figured it out!" Sam exclaimed excitedly, opening the garage door to reveal a metal circle device as tall as the pair. "Although it may or may not be safe..." They mumble lowly.
"What do you mean may or may not!? Could it kill us? I don't want to die right now!" Veronica said, slowly backing away.
"I mean, it's not on right now, so the worst it could do is fall and maybe explode." Sam shrugs. "But hey! It could take us somewhere. And even if it killed us, it would be quick and painless." They pause and tap on their chin in thought, "At least, I think..."
"Oh dear lord, we're gonna die... let's do this, I'm ready." Veronica sighs half nervously and began to walk towards the metal contraption.
Sam nods enthusiastically and went to a table nearby that held a metal box-looking thing and picked it up. There were a few buttons they pressed before the 'portal' began to glow. They smiled excitedly as they made their way towards Veronica. "Up and ready."
"Oh jeez, you're sure we aren't gonna die?" Veronica slowly steps closer. "What, do we just step on the platform and get transported somewhere? Are we going to Mexico?!"She started to laugh, wheezing a bit.
"Uh, I'm gonna be perfectly honest here, I have no idea where this is going to take us. Giving the chance it might work and us not dying." Sam gives a grimace of a smile. "Want me to go first or go at the same time?" They place a reassuring hand on Veronica's shoulder in an attempt to calm her down.
"Bish, I ain't that scared." She produces a weak laugh accompanied by a nervous laugh. "Please go with me..." She held out her hand and let out a shaky sigh.
"Of course, we shall die together!" Sam jokes, trying to hide their nervousment as well. They grab Veronica's hand and nods, "On the count of three?"
"Yeah, that works...One."
"Two..." Sam exhales roughly.
"Three..." Veronica began to step on the circle.
Sam takes a deep breath before pulling both of them through the portal, their eyes closing from the brightness.
