War, war never changes.

When the second world war ended with the detonation of the atomic bomb, the World was at a stand still, awaiting armageddon. Instead, something miraculous happened. The World began to use atomic energy not just as a weapon, but as a nearly limitless source of power. People enjoyed luxuries only imagined in the realm of science fiction: Domestic robots, fusion powered cars, even laser weapons.

However, mankind became frivolous, leading to shortages to every major resource, from petroleum to uranium. War broke out once more, countries once allied, began killing each other over a few drops of oil. For those dwindling resources the U.N would disband in 2042, the European Commonwealth would reduce to quarreling, bickering nation-states in the 2050's, and a desperate China would invade Alaska, the last remaining place on Earth where oil still runs, in 2066 starting the Sino-American War. During this war, a desperate United States annexes Canada for its resources, using the war as an excuse.

After over a decade of fighting, the United States finally fends of China in January, 2077 but the fear of armageddon once again lingers in the air. And sure enough, on October 23rd, 2077, the  Great War began. For two hours hell fire rained down on the word, burning everything and everybody. The Nuclear Apocalypse has truly come. But it was not, as some had predicted, the end of the world. Instead, the apocalypse was simply the prologue to another bloody chapter of human history. For man had succeeded in destroying the world - but war, war never changes.

Thousands were spared the nuclear armageddon through underground shelters known as Vaults. Advertised as shelters from armageddon, filled with the tools and handpicked inhabitants needed to rebuild the world, but they were not as the public thought there were. They were actually giant experiments, each with its own designed to test out its inhabitants mentality. physical strength, or psychology.

In one of those Vaults lies a secret Jonathan Lloyd, a man from before the war, hopes to crack. 200 years have passed since the Great War, yet John remains unchanged, even unknown to him as to how. He finds himself in Washington D.C, our nations capital and hopes that at the headquarters of Vault-Tec, his long journey comes to fruition.

War,

War never changes.

In the year 1945, a desperate United States drops two atomic bombs in Japan to end a second World War. The world began to rebuild. Crumbling nations begin to adjust.

The world awaited Armageddon. Instead, something miraculous happened. We began to use atomic energy not just as a weapon, but also as a nearly limitless source of power. People enjoyed luxuries once thought of at the realm of science fiction; Domestic robots, fusion-powered cars, laser weapons, and even portable computers. However, years of frivolous consumption led to shortages of every major resource.

War once again wrought out, waged on Earth's last remaining resources. For these resources the U.N would dissolve in 2042, the European Commonwealth would dissolve in the 2050's and turn into quarreling, bickering nation-states. In 2066 a desperate China invades Alaska, the last place on Earth at that time with still running oil. During that war, the United States annexes Canada with the war as an excuse.

In January, 2077, the United States finally beats back China but nuclear annihilation was awaited. Riots filled the streets as robots took over the job industry and unemployment rose to an all time high. Then, on October 23rd, 2077, the inevitable happened and the world became engulfed in nuclear fire. But it was not, as some had predicted, the end of the world. Instead, the apocalypse was simply the prologue to another bloody chapter of human history. For man had succeeded in destroying the world - but war, war never changes.

Thousands were spared the nuclear armageddon through underground shelters known as Vaults by a company called Vault-Tec. Advertised as housing the last bastion for mankind with the tools necessary to survive and rebuild, only 17 did as advertised. The other hundred plus Vaults had more sadistic motives to test humanity mentally, physically, and sometimes both.

But from some Vaults rose great heroes like the Vault Dweller in the West Coast in 2162. Though their goal was to save their own Vault, they ended up saving the world from a cruel, mutated man calling himself the Master who wanted to wipe out the wasteland with a Super Mutant army. Then there is their descendant, known as the Chosen One who 80 years after their ancestor, was destined to save their village. But instead also saves the wastes from a tyrannical group known as the Enclave, remnants of our government.

Over at the East Coast another hero rose from a Vault known as the Lone Wanderer in 2277. Though with more selfish motives to wander the wastes they end up saving the Capitol Wasteland from the same Enclave fought 35 years before while also bringing fresh, clean water to the wastes derived from his fathers research.

This story however doesn't follow a hero. One who too rose from a Vault. One who witnessed the actions of the Vault Dweller and the Chosen One. Who fought against the Master's Army and the Enclave, receiving the scars to proof it. Unable to know why he can live so long unfazed, he's wandered through the wastes of the West Coast earning himself the nickname the Ranger due to his association with a certain faction. One thing that troubles him the most is his inability to remember his past. Bits and pieces flash before him, but not enough to get a clear picture. All he remembers before his time in his Vault was stepping into it, and then suddenly waking up in the middle of nowhere in a torn,  unreadable Vault suit. In the year 2260, he became determined to find his past and searches for his Vault for many, many years. Bearing no fruit he continues his search East.

The year is 2277, only a few days before the Lone Wanderer leaves their own Vault and 5 years after the Ranger himself arrives at the Capitol Wasteland. There, he has made friends and enemies but also finally finds a clue to the location of his forgotten Vault. Located in the heart of D.C lies the Vault-Tec Headquarters. There, he hopes to finally find the whereabouts of his Vault.
