Like No One Else

My eyes squint

As I look up at the sun

I'm glad to be me

Where I'm the only one

No one has a smile like mine

Teeth peeking from under rich lips

No one has a color like mine

Like honey streaming over my hips

No one has a laugh like mine

Like high pealing bells

I'm happy being one of a kind

From as far as I can tell

Why, then, is it so difficult?

To find the one you love

I'm me, looking for him

You know who I'm thinking of

The one who holds me

And never wants to let go

The one who smiles and laughs

When he says I told you so

The one who I can talk to forever

No matter how I feel

I'm fishing through the sea for him

I hope he comes across my reel

I sigh deeply

Another boring fishing trip

I bend forward clutching at my chest

My heart is starting to rip

I know he's out there

I see him in my dream

Where he is the shore

And I am the stream

I struggle to curve

I can't, I scream

We are parallel

We can never meet

All I know is that I'll keep searching

For that someone, who is like no one else

Someone who will smile and laugh with me

His laughter and my high pealing bells
