"To answer your question, you were eh."
I turn around, gasping slightly as I pretend to be offended.
"I put my heart and soul into that performance, and you, Mr. Chen, call it eh?" I tease.
"I'm kidding," he laughs. "It was incredible. And Mr. Chen?" he questions, raising an eyebrow.
"Stop, it just came out," I pout. "Don't be weird."
Currently, we were back out in the arena as Martin Garrix played his set for the athletes.
"No, but really. You were absolutely incredible out there tonight. You're so talented," Nathan says, sincerity in his voice.
His words cause my cheeks to heat up. I've heard those words plenty of times, but it means a lot coming from Nathan. "Thank you," I reply. "I was going to say you did great tonight as well, but you didn't perform."
"I did a great job of sitting in the crowd," he says. "You were walking like a model out there, too," I laugh.
A silence falls between us for a moment as Martin starts a new song.
"When do you leave?" I ask.
"Tomorrow night."
"Oh."
I knew that he couldn't stay in Korea for long, especially with the World Championships approaching. But it still sucked knowing that in less than 24 hours, he would be gone.
"You should come to Milan, for worlds," Nathan suggests. "I mean, you're probably super busy, but it's just an idea."
"When does it start?" I ask. "The first event is on March 21st," he tells me.
I mentally cheer, as that's the day after my 3 week break begins.
"I think I can go," I say. He smiles, "Really?"
I nod. "I can't just cheer you on from home, that's no fun."
"Well now I really have to do my best," Nathan sighs. "Oh, because you wouldn't have done your best otherwise?" I laugh.
"I gotta impress you somehow."
"You already have."
