I have a beautiful bluebird
and a handsome rose.
She matters, more than anything.
And he matters, so so much.
But I have a horrible aching in my soul
that screams at me
"You cannot have both."
"Choose one."
"And lose the other."
She needs me, more than ever.
And I need him, to keep me from falling.
"You cannot have both.
Choose one
and lose the other."
What do I do?
When I cannot be what she needs me to be
and I am failing at the one thing that truly matters.
And I am so afraid
that my bluebird will leave me,
fly away and never return.
And I will be left with my rose
and have no desire to tend it.
Because what kind of person am I
if I can't even help a bird fly?
Birds are born to fly.
And growing roses is hard.
