Moving was not one of my priority this year. I actually never wanted to move because I lived in my home for all of my 16 years of life. But, now we are moving, all because my dad got a promotion in his job that required us to do so. My mom told me it was a small town, but that it was still here in California. But it was far from were we, now, used to live at. I don't like that idea much because I lived in a big city where I had a friend and 'a social life', but now I have to restart it all from scratch, it will be even harder in this small town because all the people grew up with each other so they formed their out cliques already.
In the car I tried to ignore my parents bickering about what colors they will paint the walls and how to set up things. About two and a half hours later my mom announced that we were here. I faked a smile at her enthusiasm.
When I saw the house I wanted to run out of the car and back home. The house looked terrible it was old looking. Paint peeling of the walls, some random broken windows. The grass needed to be mowed and the trees looked dead and gray. And rusty tall black gate concealed it from everything else in the nice neighborhood. Oh god! It looked like Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events mansion, but green!
"So kennedi, how do you like it?" My dad chimed
"It looks like shi...zenets" I avoided saying a bad word I front of my parents
"C'mon it not that bad Kenny" my mom smiled
"No offense but your going blind it looks bad"
"Whatever" my dad walked up to the porch
"How old is this place?"
"Like. . . I think it was built in 1910? Or so."
"That's like a century and a 4 years old!" I gulped
"Get your stuff and bring it inside"
I grabbed two boxes and a back pack that I hand carried here. The boxes contained some of my favorite clothes, some books, posters, laptop, and other nessesities. My parents where already inside I hesitated a little to do so.
When I did the inside was twice as worst than the out side. Wall paper pealing everywhere, cobwebs and spider webs in every nook and cranny, dust floating and covering everything like they freaking owned the place. And it smelled very musty.
"Where is my room?"
"Up stairs take a left and two doors down!" My mom yelled from somewhere.
The stairs where like one of them grand stairs you see like in movies and stuff. I made it to my room to my luck I didn't get lost because my name was written in chalk board thing that I guess my dad put when he first came to see this place. The room was a little bit more cleaner. The walls where painted navy blue, and had a white trim. Dust covered the hard wood floor. My naked bed was already here also my desk, chair, and tv.
I called my mom.
"Hello? Why are you calling I'm down stairs." She laughed
"Well I would have gotten lost can I ask you three questions?"
"Sure"
"Do we have internet yet?"
"Yes"
"How about cable?"
"Yes, and your third question?"
"Oh the question was the first question about asking the questions" I hung up
I turned on the tv and watched 'Cry-Baby' on fox. I as talented as I was multitasking by being on tumblr! My dad walked in with out knocking, typical. And just stood there watching me. I meet his eyes.
"Welcome how may I help you today?"
"What are you doing?"
"Internet, movie"
"Go explore the house"
"No"
"Why not?"
"It's big I will get lost"
"Go" he frowned
"Fine then" I walked past him.
I was actually kinda scared to be looking around this house. It was only two stories, but it had a basement and an attic. In bed room there where 7 in total, I wonder how much this cost because our last house was two and it, or they said it cost a lot. Some rooms where dreadfully dirty, they had some thing I think belonged to the previous owner. I saw the pull able stair case for the attic, I didn't dare touch it. I decided to go down to the basement. I flipped the switch on. Thank god it did look like in the movies with that eerie green light. They was even more belonging.
"Well then I guess they didn't want there stuff" as I brushed my hand against a chipped white wooden arm chair. I ran back out as I turned off the lights. As I found my self in the kitchen I looked outside into the backyard. It was quite big. Well that's enough exploring.
Back in my room I plopped down. I closed my eyes slightly. Out of the corner I saw something move. I fully opened my eyes. Holy shit.
"Who are you!" My eyes widened, my hand covered my mouth. A boy the same age or a little bit older was standing at the foot of my bed. He had shaggy honey brown curls, his eyes where dark, he looked sickly pale for some reason, he looked toned from the way his arms were flexed. He wore a crisp plain white tee shirt with dark tubed jeans, a black blazer he was holding against his shoulder, and black boots. Who let him in? His hand was in one of his pockets and he had a frown across his face.
"I can ask you the same thing" He said. He have a silvery voice.
I blinked in disbelief and he seemed to vanish into thin air.
