"I dont want to get married! I'm not even eightteen yet!" I yell at my father, standing on the other side of the room. "You are my daughter, I decide who you marry and you are going to marry David next week" he replies. "Lynn" My mom, carrying my younger brother, walks in "sweety just listen to your father, you will marry David and you will start a family with him." I really don't want to marry David, I never liked David. He's the son of the owner of the bank in town. I really don't like him, he thinks he can get what he wants because his father is the owner of the bank and I've heard he's abusive to people. "I want to decide who I marry myself! And I'm not going to marry David!" I yell to my parents as I run out of the livingroom and head towards my bedroom. As I run up the stairs I slip and hit my knee against the hard wooden step. "Bloody f..." I stop myself before I can wisper it, remembering my parents' punishment when I swore, even though they wouldn't be able to hear if I didn't stop myself. I reach my bedroom and sit down, lifting up my dress to reveal a bruise on my knee. "Great" I wisper to myself as I look out my window. Then my eyes spot something in the harbor and I come up with a plan.
I hear my father tell me that he and Mother are going to the market with my younger brother. After a minute I hear the front door closing. I quickly get up and walk to my brothers bedroom, walking to the pile of clothes my older brother left behind when he got married and moved. I quickly pick out some pants and shirts, finding a hat in the process and I take them back to my room and hide them.
I wait untill nightfall and everyone is sleeping, then I put on my brothers clothes and tie my hair up to hide it with the hat, leaving a little part of my ends stick out so it looks like I have short hair. I put the rest of the clothes into a small backpack and I sneak down the stairs. I grab a piece of bread from the kitchen, putting it in my backpack as I sneak out of the front door. I close the door as silently as I can and I don't hear anyone waking up after I closed it.
The sun is already starting to rise, so I walk towards a river to wait there. I used to go there a lot when I was younger and I would go into the water. Stupid, I know, I can't swim but I would never go into deep water. I sit in the sun watching the water and eating my bread, getting up after finishing it. I walk towards the harbor and I see the big ship about to leave. Thats where im going.
I walk towards the ship and walk onto it, walking down some steps so it doesnt look like im lost. I get in an area with hammocks, I have no idea what parts of the ship are called apart from the sails. "Hey kiddo" I turn around to face a guy, was I caught? "This one is yours." He points to an hammock. "First time on a ship?" He asks me. "Yeah" I reply, trying to make my voice deeper than it actually is.
~~time skip~~
I've been staying on the ship for a week now, there is no land in sight. Other sailors keep commanding me around. Well, atleast its better than marrying to David. I hear one of the sailors tell me to scrub the deck, I sigh and roll my eyes. Wrong move. He hears and sees it, getting angry and pushing me against the wall. "If you don't want to do work you should have stayed at home!" He yells at my face, a finger pointing at my chest. He pokes my chest hard saying the last few words. Goodbye disguise... I see him realise what he touched and he quickly grabs my hat, my long hair becoming untied and flowing down to my shoulders. "Its a goddamn girl!" He yells. I see men grabbing ropes and rush towards me. Suddenly something in my brain clicks and I realise what's going to happen to me.
I decide not to fight as they tie my legs together and my hands behind my back. They carry me and put me down on the edge of the ship, a plank the only thing in front of me. I walk with as big steps as the rope allows me onto the plank, knowing that fighting wont do anything. There is no way I can convince some supersticious sailors to let me stay on the ship. I get to the edge of the plank. Guess this is it. "Fuck it" I say as I take a deep breath and jump.
I quickly hit the water, feeling the cold on my skin. I slowly start sinking to the bottom. I open my eyes and look up as I slowly sink deeper into the ocean, trying to suppress the urge to breathe. I feel my back hit the bottom of the ocean, somehow its comforting. I look at the ship I was on some minutes ago, continuing on its way. I dont know what I was going to do if I had made it to where ever the ship is going. I wonder how my father and mother are doing, how they reacted when they discovered I wasn't in my bed anymore. I feel at peace, I close my eyes as a feel the salty water quickly fill my lungs.
A/N
The story takes place around the 17th century, which explains the sailorship and the father chosing their daughter's husbands. I try to stick to the time as much as I can though I might make some mistakes, feel free to point those out. There will be supernatural things like maybe werewolves and vampires or other creatures, I dont know the complete story yet but I will give explainations on certain creatures if nessecary. I dont know how much people are going to read this but if you are reading this then thank you and hopefully see you in the next chapter.
