It's been a while since Maree and I shared our mutual feelings for eachother, I'm still very happy about it. I'm currently laying on my blankets resting, stroking my hands trough my hair. My hair was already long when I left but it has noticeably gotten longer, I really wonder how long it has been... As I brush my hair out of my face I suddenly wonder what I look like now, did becoming a mermaid change my appearance? I haven't seen my own face in so long...
I'm too lost in my own thoughts to notice the ship above me, floating on the surface of the water and two little rowing boats moving across the surface. I decide to swing up and carefully check it out, the memories of what happend to turn me into a mermaid make me irritated.
I hear the men in the rowboat cheerfully singing a song, they seem nice but I know I probably shouldn't trust them. I breach the surface a bit away and start humming the song, the men on the boat stopping their paddling and singing as soon as they notice me. I continue humming the soon as I slowly swim closer and trying to see what they have in their boat, being careful to not get caught looking.
Reaching the boat I cross my arms leaning on the edge of the boat. The men seem afraid but interested. I spot a folded pile of fabric laying in the boat, it looks like something that could be useful. I quickly try reaching for it, only to feel a sharp pain and then heat in my arm which makes me pull back my arm. I back up as I notice one of the men standing in the boat with a dagger. I quickly look down at my arm to now see a deep gash, the water around it turning a crimson red.
In anger I grab the edge of the boat, pulling with all the strength in me and causing the boat to flip. As the men try to get back to the surface, I see the bundle of cloth and the dagger sinking. I quickly collect the items and swim away, the adrenaline now wearing off causing me more pain in my arm which is still bleeding.
As I reach my resting place I quickly cut off a strip of fabric from one of my blankets using the dagger and use it as a temporary bandage. I noticed there was something in the bundle of fabric, as I unwrap it I uncover a small wooden chest with a lock and even tough I am underwater it feels heavy. There is no key so I can't open it. As I look back at my arm I still see swirls of red mixing with the water. "I need help..." I think to myself. I hope Maree is able to help, she's kind of the only person who I can ask for help...

Update go brrr. Got a random spurt of motivation and inspiration, might write next chapter too despite having class early in the morning but oh well. I finished checking all the spelling of my previous chapters, changed the little sister's name to Ashe instead of Tori (cuz it kept making me think of that victorious show), changed some very minor details that aren't relevant to the later story so no need to go back. If you still spot a spelling mistake please remember I'm also human but feel free to let me know in the comments ;) Anyways thanks for reading and hopefully see you in the next chapter (if not, you're like 7 chapters in already why not read more;)))
